Carnie Wilson has weight loss surgery. Again.

Carnie Wilson had roux en y gastric bypass twelve years ago.  Many of us followed her RAN to the operating room and had gastric bypass because we read her book and thought - THIS IS IT!

The cure!

OMG LOOK HOW AMAZING YOU LOOK WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO BE LIKE YOU!??!!

Okay, perhaps it wasn't just like that, but some people really did react that way.

Hey, guess what?  WLS is not the cure for obesity.

Carnie has had a very public struggle with regain after weight loss surgery.  She took ahold of the regain and recently got a gastric band over her bypass.

People -

Since having the procedure – during which a silicone band is placed around the stomach to create a pouch the size of a golf ball – Wilson, 43, has lost 30 lbs. and counting.

Ironically, this article comes a couple weeks before her new album is released.  Timing, good.  And, GOOD FOR HER.

She had the same surgeon I had for RNY.  My surgeon repeatedly explained to me prior to surgery (WARNING: NOT calling Wilson one) "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink!"  She has Yo Yo'd up and down countless times because she does not want to get treatment for her real challenge...ADDICTION.  No surgery would have fixed this issue for her.

The surgery gives you a chance to get on a level playing field with those that are not suffering from obestity.

How you use that chance is up to you.

I am glad she is facing her regain and trying to turn it around.  She probably shoulda opted for the DS as her choice of revision, but this may be what works for her.  I hope that she will get in therapy and in a support group and deal with her food issues this go around because that makes a difference in maintainance success for sure.  I will definitely be pulling for her to succeed.

She can get a DS next time.

You know that's my goal in life -- to have every single procedure done.  Just so I can know it.  Or something.

I've said it a million times, and I'm know I'm preaching to the choir here, but humor me and let me make it a million and one times...

I  do not have a problem with ANYONE doing ANYTHING they need to do to get HEALTHY...

and...

Until you have had WLS..

and had regain...

you CANNOT know how it feels...

Thank you for letting me preach!!!!

After you (general you) regain/relose 70 lbs and finally reach goal at 9 yrs post op (am 9 yrs/11 mo. post TODAY, and -170lbs), I will proudly share my pulpit wilth you....

Carnie does does not owe me any explanations. She-or any enetertainer, for that matter, owes me NONE of her private business. the only thing she owes me is to put forth her best musical performance, if I pay my hard earned money for a concert ticket or buy her CD...

Okay..sermon over...

Back to my day job...
