How many carbs should I be consuming?
Are you trying to lose weight?
If I'm trying to lose weight I stay away from a lot of fruit. I think my body is just sensitive to it. Right now I'm working out a lot and maintaining I eat a banana a day and a lot of trail mix w dried fruit.
It would be very difficult to be eating less than 50 g carbs a day and eating fruit. If I'm counting carbs, I count them all. Why would you not count them?

You know how ya feel Hun . If Ur body says ..no more dieting .. Listen to it !! I have a very hard time with hypoglycemia ( WAYYY before my WLS ) . Turns out i have SEIZURES if I starve enough .
This is NOT something U want ...M.UCH bettter than starving ... the permanent solution is to build calorie burning and ATTRACTIVE muscle thru EXERCISE .

To get rid of my last ten pounds at about 18 months, I quit eating much protein and went to mostly fresh fruit. Lots of fresh strawberries, fresh pineapple, oranges, apples, pears, cherries, melons, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, fruit ****tail, grapefruit, and some salads with lots of grape tomatoes. I learned that I did not dump from fruit. In six weeks I went from 142 to 128. Then went back to high protein.
Dr. Atkins, who started the high protein dieting revolution back in the early 1970's recommended going on something entirely different when a high protein diet was no longer taking weight off. What he said though was not to combine high protein with high carbs. And to still avoid the pasta, bread, processed sugars and rice.
Sometimes just shaking up the body a bit does wonders for weight loss. You will not develop a protein deficiency in a few weeks. You might discover a much slimmer body.

There is a difference between losing weight ad losing fat. High proteins diet will promote fat loss while very light protein diet will promote weight loss - but many times at an expense of muscles. You will get smaller if you stop eating proteins. You will lose muscles, an maybe some fat - but mostly muscles.
When we eat proteins - he body can convert proteins into sugar - but they will not convert sugar into proteins. carbs+ fat, or just carbs - may make you hungry and may facilitate fat gain- but loss of muscle mass.
I hope the 50 carbs is net carbs. carbs - fiber. Fiber helps BM, and helps eliminate toxins from the body. Too much fiber with not enough fat and water = constipation.

So in the beginning you should shoot for 50 or less carbs? My nutritionist never gave me a strait forward answer about this. I am in a stall (no weight loss for 2 1/2 weeks) and I've wondered if I am doing some thing wrong. So I am trying to figure out how exactly it should all break down. I'm getting 60 protein, 700 calories, 50-60 carbs. What do you think?
OK... lets see...
60 gr protein = 60 x 4=240 cal
60 carbs= 240 cal.
700-480= 220 /9 = 25 gr fat.
Not too bad... But - I would suggest - for losing weight - average 30- 40 gr of net carbs,
(netcarbs = carbs- fiber), 70-80 gr of proteins, and rest fat.
Carbs are not the same. There are starchy carbs, non-starchy carbs, simple and complex. I would avoid any simple carbs, and get carbs from non-starchy veggies.
Eat carbs only in combination with proteins and fat. (that means that the 100 cal packs - that are mostly carbs - are not good as a snack- unless they are nuts) The simple carbs may slow down your weight loss.
But try to rotate the diet - one day more - the other day less food carbs. Meat weekly goals- make the body guessing what it going on., That worked best for me.
When i now eat food - I ask myself: why do I want to eat that? what does this gives me? And unless it is food that I need (proteins, fat, fiber) I don't eat it just to eat... (i.e. I get food that I thought I may like - but one bite - and I really do not want that - I would stop eating and either get something I really want - or just eat some protein and salad. )
