Hi all!  I am 6 days since my Bypass and feeling pretty great except for the painon my left side.  It feels like maybe a gas bubble trapped underneath my ribs.  The pain meds have helped by I am trying to get off of those since I am scheduled to return to work on Monday.  Any ideas of what this is or if it is a gas bubble, can I take GasX or soemthing to get rid of it??

Thanks all!

You are allowed to take GasX and it works! I had the gas pain for about 5 days post-op and I took the GasX as well as used my heating pad faithfully. I still use it when I have mild cramping. Walking around also relieves alot of the gas. I took a walk a few times a day even if it was just for a few minutes each time.
Hope this is helpful.

Holy Cow - You are going back to work on Monday!  Good luck with resolving the pain you are experiencing.  I found that post-op I was tired most afternoons and would sleep.  I also needed time to adjust to the schedule of liquids, vitamins and protein.

Walk walk walk walk
walk
pace -
stand up -
walk - :)

Did I mention you should take a stroll - even if it's just around your kitchen table?

I had TERRIBLE pain in both sides - toward the back - felt like something got stuck in there it hurt so bad.  The nurse practitioner said it was from all the gas they pump into you during surgery - Best way to relieve that - move! Within a few more days, with a few 30 minute walks, it disappeared and that was that.

Good luck to you when you return to work! :)
