First, thank you to all *****sponded to my whining post about wanting to eat my cat! LOL I am now on day 5 of my preop liquid diet. It is hard, but this morning things are brighter.

What I mean't about 8 weeks of not eating food, mean't regular food! Post op I have the week of clears, then a week or 2 of fulls, then pureed, then soft, and then finally normal which I think is at 8 weeks. SORRY IF I WAS CONFUSING.

Btw, my cat is safe so far today. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS------OR TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!

Is chardonnay a clear liquid?

In understood you perfectly ... LOL about the cat and the chardonnay .. too funny...

I am glad I did not have to do a pre-op diet at all much less a liquid diet .. I think I would be commiserating right along with you or  I would have been pulling either my hair or my extensions out and my 8 ferrets would have been in danger LOL...

Just remember YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! it does all work itself out ... stage by stage .... CONGRATS on your upcoming big day!!!!

Hey thanks all! I believe humor can get us all through those tough times! I think my cat will be safe tonight. I will abstain from the chardonnay for a long time sadly but necessary.

Interesting what happened to me today. I had a banana at 0900 (I can have fresh fruits and vegies), then I had my protein drink at 1000, a sugar free jello cup at 1145. I was in a meeting at 1:45 and started to feel one of my hyperglycemic reactions come on. I am not diabetic. I made it to my cafeteria by 2:00 really starting to shake, got some watermelon--actually a lot of watermelon! Came back to my office and called my dietician. She could hear me shaking in my voice. I was pounding the watermelon! It did make me feel much better, She said that this was probably my "hump" day and indicative of depleting my glycogen(sugar) stores from my liver and that is suppose to happen. I have had reactive hypoglycemia issues in the past if I eat to high carb or sugar. She said that I could have like a 1/2 turkey sandwich on whole grain if it happens again. I then went and got some chicken breast strips from the salad bar.

That was a "hyperglycemic" reaction? I'm confused. In other words, did your blood sugar skyrocket (hyperglycemia) & then plummet (hypoglycemia)?

havent read your previous post yet but  i am not surprised you had a "hyperglycemic" attack. after all, all you ate with the exception of the protein shake (made with milk?) was sugar. Bananas and watermelon are pure sugar and little else. you might as well have been eating spoonfuls of pure sugar.

I don't know how much protein was in your shake but ZIT am betting on ,maybe,15 gms?

"pounding on the watermelon" didn't help at all, really, maybe temporarily, but I bet it would have led you straight to another "hyperglycemic" attack,if you hadn't gotten the chicken.

Just because we "can" have something doesn't mean we "should
 have it,KWIM?

As long as there is sugar from fruit free floating in your blood stream all the time, our lazy bodies will burn It first for energy, instead of burning our stored fat. Just something to think about as you get on the other side.
