I just turned in my paperwork to start my wls process. I didn't expect a call from the bariatric center so soon, but I have my first appointment on JUNE 18th already. It will be a 3 hr appointment meeting with the nut and psych. Found out my insurance doesn't require 6 months of structured dieting. The lady I spoke with said I can have 2 nut classes each month and will probably be ready for surgery in 3 months!!! 3 MONTHS--- Oh my- I am so excited this is really taking place. It is finally getting real for me.

Vickie - I will probably be a little over a month after you have your surgery. Are you getting excited? What kind of things do you have to do before hand?

I have already done the psych eval and a class through my surgery center. I have one more class to attend and then just need to do my pre-op paperwork and labs with the hospital. I will start my preop diet 7/30/12. I AM very excited! I went to the appointment with my surgeon expecting to schedule gastric bypass and he recommended sleeve instead. After discussing the reasons, advantages/disadvantages, etc with him, I opted to schedule the sleeve. I've been reading up since yesterday afternoon and I'm so glad that I did! Aug can't come soon enough!

Don't you need to talk to the doctor first, decide on which procedure would be best for you before anything else happens?  Or did you already get through that part?  If so Congratulations and Good Luck

I decide on the Gastric Bypass. Haven't met with the surgeon yet to discuss it yet, but my insurance will only cover the lap band (which is a definately not what I want) or the Gastric Bypass. If I had an option of the sleeve, I would probably choose the Sleeve too. BUT, I am very satisfied with what I am doing. I have researched RNY and listened to others for the past 4 months. I am so excited about th 18th. I can't wait to learn more.
