Hey everyone! I just started a job where I have to work 12 hr shifts and stand most of the time. MY FEET ARE KILLING ME! My heel are cracking really bad and I have bought new, expensive shoes that just do not help. I am pre-op and was wondering what would help my feet? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Heather Hey, could this be a comorb?

Three words... BEAUDREAUX'S BUTT PASTE Yes, butt paste! It is a product that I have recently discovered. I have extremely dry skin that I rarely ever find relief for--the slightest cool down in the weather and my fingers will start to crack and bleed. I got a sample of the Beaudreaux's Butt Paste and could see an improvement after the first use. By day three, I was totally sold on the product. I found it at Wal-Mart in the baby section. It was originally developed as a diaper rash cream, but has many more practical uses. The cream is not real heavy and has a pleasant light scent. I would highly suggest trying it! You can do a web search just using the product name and it will come up with a lot of articles about it.

I have had bad heels since I was 12. I too am pre-op in case you are wondering. I got permission from my podiatrist ( I am diabetic) to use a foot file to lightly rub across my heels and then put on a good lotion like Eucerin and socks. I can't sleep with it on, but I can wear them when I get a chance to relax. It may be that your weight is adding increased pressure on your feet, not sure if it would cause the cracking. Mine crack worse when they are dry. When you take off your shoes at the end of the work day, how are your feet, dry, clammy, moist etc.... I am sure they ache Write it down and if they don't improve talk to your Dr about it. I hope they improve. If you don't have any circulation probs, maybe give the foot file or pumice a try and apply the lotion and socks, with you being on your feet they need some extra TLC. Take care.

Every night before bed I rub my feet with cream (I use Avon Foot Works Callus cream) and put socks on. I have done this for years and my feet pay if I don't. I hear the Butt Cream is good. Also you betya this is a co-morbity! I say as soon as someone decides to seek surgery go to the doctor and start complaining. List every single thing that is going on and make sure they understand it needs to be documented. Best Wishes! Sarah RNY 07/09/04 -76lbs

I have heel cracking problems also. I hate it! I havent found anything that completely makes the cracking go away. Ive used the expensive creams...it soothes the cracked skin and softens it some but nothing I have used has stopped the cracking. Keep wearing good shoes, avoid the cute lil sandals (this is my problem, the sandals sure are cute but sooooo hard on my poor feet!) and apply some type of lotion a few times a day to your feet, perhaps in the AM and PM. Here is something weird I heard a few years ago....I heard that putting krazy glue on the cracks removes them from the heel. Krazy glue???? you could do some research on that and see what you find. Hugs, Tiffany

Another suggestion is "Miracle Foot" .. it is available on QVC or at your local Walmart (I found mine in the shoe section). They also have Miracle Hands. Even people with Diabetes can use it. It contains aloe, and it takes cracked, dry feet, and makes them all soft again Robin

Hi Heather, I use Avon's Therapeutic Cracked Heel Relief Cream daily and after using this for only a month I now have the softest heels and not a single cracked or dried spot on either heel. I highly recommend this and once your heels begin to heal you can use Avon's Therapeutic Advanced Moisturizing Foot Cream with AHA as a follow up. I don't sell Avon but I get my books from a friend at work and both of these products are on sale for $2.50 a piece (I just placed an order earlier today). Hope this helps. Belinda

My dermatologist recommends, and I use, eucerin cream at bedtime then wrap feet in seran wrap and put socks on. Within a few days the skin is soft and I soak in warm soapy water and use a pumice stone to gently rub off the dead skin. Works like a charm. Also, I get a lot of foot pain from planter facitis (sp) I use "fleet Feet" sole and arch supports. They help but getting the weight off should help to. It sure sucks when your feet hurt. I feel for you. Good luck (((Hugs))) Nina

I am a diabetic so my dr is always on me to take care of my feet. I have a really bad problem with cracked heels. I bought a heated foot massager that you pu****er in. I found one at walmart for $10 I soak my feet in that for about a half an hour then I dry them really good and file the edges so there is nothing peeling (sorry sounds gross) Then I use a product that I found at the drug store called DiaDermal and it is a lotion that works really well. I use it as an excuse for my DH to rub my feet so he just rubs that on there and my feet stay smooth all day. Jeannie
