Obese Toddlers on Maury today
OK - this is steaming me
A mother who feeds her 8 month old son
A huge breakfast (pancakes - the works)
A mid morning snack of 3 pieces of pizza
30 minutes later any kind of junk food (candy donuts, McDonalds, and pop, etc)
And the rest of the day is more of the same...
The mother says she loves to see her son eat, and he can eat all day long, and he can eat whatever he wants!
The kid is 8 months old and weighs 32 pounds.
Doesn't this border on child abuse!
(oh, and since he has no teeth yet when she feeds him foods like chicken, she scews it and then feeds it to him- YUKKK!)
Sharon
I'm thuroughly disgusted...geez!
BUT as for the child abuse issue? I think that having these kids on public TV is a form of child abuse. But that's MY lil old opinion and I hope if these kids grow up psychologically messed up due to thier parents parading them on national television (did you see the prime time Dr. Phil with the poor boy who was psychotic???), I hope they SUE thier parents!
No, I didn't see the Dr. Phil (or was it the evening one with the kid he said had 9 out of 14 characteristics of a serial killer - Imagine going back to school after THAT ONE).
You're right about parading them on national TV - and they have them all with no shirts on - (to show their rolls of fat, I'm sure).
All of the mom's are concerned about their kids weight, except for the one....
Sharon
I'm sure this is my personal bias showing through here, but---in my opinion, if your parents are so incredibly insensitive as to parade you on public TV, ESPECIALLY on something as crude as the "Dr. Phil" show, you should have an automatic 'win' if you choose to sue them for psychological damage later in life---even if you DO turn out to be a serial killer or big-time politicial.
"The kid is 8 months old and weighs 32 pounds."
funny you should mention this...I just qui****ching a baby recently. I had her since she was 9 weeks old till she was 1 and couldn't do it anymore. Starting at birth her mother fed her nonstop formula bottles and juice (far more than I've ever seen an infant eat), started her on solids & junk food the minute her first tooth came in at 6 months, had her on whole milk and total solids by the time she was 7-8 months old and couldn't figure out WHY the kid was fat, couldnt/wouldnt crawl, exhausted easily in the excersaucer and slept almost 24/7. At her 1 year checkup she weighed - no kidding here - 37 pounds. They wanted me feeding this baby bologna & ravioli at 9 months.
My own kids don't eat that stuff and my own (almost) 3 year old only weighs 28 lbs!! I just couldn't take it anymore so I dismissed her. She couldn't understand my concerns about this child's diet...and her pediatrician has told her "theres no such thing as a diet for a baby" HUH?
Just a pet peeve of mine. If I watched that show I'd probably implode!!
