It's going good, but I still have a wicked sweet tooth...

I thank goodness all the time for sugar substitutes lately. I know they're not particularly good for you...I try to stick to Truvia & the like (natural vs. chemical), but some foods haven't evolved to use stuff other than aspartame. SF/NSA popsicles, hot chocolate, yogurt, jello, and on and on. Even the protein drinks are artificially sweetened (although it seems to be with stevia or sucralose, which is good I guess). I guess I'm wondering...has anyone managed to kick their sweet tooth at all post-surgery, or is my life going to be a parade of sugar free and no sugar added frankenfood?

I gave up most traditional sweet stuff before my surgery.
I don't eat baked goods, cookies, cake, ice cream, candy, etc anymore and don't miss them.
When I want something sweet, I have a Luna Bar or some yogurt or fruit.
I have a band, so dumping is not an issue for me .... And I don't care for artificial sweeteners, so I stay away from sugar free foods.

I have a terrible sweet tooth. I barely have a meal without something sweet in it. I eat sugar free candy with sugar alcohols. I should have terrible gas and diarrhea with the amount of sugar alcohols I take in but I am still constipated and hardly have gas. I think my body has built up a tolerance for them.
I use Splenda and go through several 50 packet boxes a month, not to mention sugar free syrups, pudding, ice cream and fudgecicles. I drink about a gallon a day of sugar free drinks. I am 54 and as they say, you have to die of something and it the artificial sweetners are going to do it at least I died happy.
I never even thought of giving up sweet things. I just try to mitigate the damage by using sugar free things. If loving sweets is wrong I don't want to be right.
I do have other things of course, like lots of protein always first but a lot of time my protein is sweet, too, like protein shakes and Greek yogurt. Maybe I am a bad example but so far it doesn't seem to have affected me adversely.

I never got rid of mine and I usualy want something sweet every day. So I will usualy have a spoonfull of peanut butter or I keep a bag of extra dark cohocolate chips in the freezer and count out a serving and it's about 30 chips so it feels like I am getting a lot of chocolate but really it is not that much. Hope that helps :)
