Caresource anyone ?
Hello friends,
Does anyone have any experience with; or know someone who has ever had Caresource (Medicaid) Insurance?
If so, how would you rate your experience with them? Have they approved or denied your surgery?
Any information regarding Caresource insurance would be appreciated.
I have Caresource (HMO, Medicaid) Insurance in Ohio; if that helps.
Thank you friends,
Hayley
I have CareSource of Ohio as well. I have just started with them at the beginning of this month. I know they require a 9 month wait, monthly visits to both the dietitian and PCP, if you miss one month your 9 month clock starts over. Also if you gain any weight back from month to month your 9 months start over. That is what I was told by the insurance lady at the hospital. Please let me know if you find anything else out about them. Thanks Melissa
What hospital are you working with?
I spoke to the insurance specialist at Miami Valley Hospital (Premier metabolic and bariatric's) in Dayton and she said it was a 9 month supervised diet by your primary doctor, one dietician consultation and a clearance from the psychologist. She did say that the 9 months must be consecutive, and the doctor has to keep in depth logs about your diet, weight, exercise for every month, and at the 9 th month s/he must sum up if you lost, maintained the same or gained; and if you gained then you are required to show your daily food log for the past 9 months, or have the doctor write off why you have gained (such as mobility issues, an injury or something that would hinder exercise). She never stated that if you was to gain weight then the 9 months must be started over.

I am working with King's Daughter Medical Center in Ashland Ky. That is who my PCP recommended because they have 3 surgeon on staff who are local Doctors, they also have a huge support staff to depend on. Maybe it's where they aren't in the state of Ohio, then again they change the rules so much that it's hard for people and Doctor's offices to keep up. How many more months do you have to go?
I have 5 months left. I started back in April, but I skipped June, July, and August. I recently became interested in W.L.S. again back in September. So September, October, November and December have been consecutive months. I will hopefully be done in May. I have completed my Psych clearance, and today I completed my dietician consultation. So now all I am waiting on is the next 5 months to fly by.
How about you ? What is your story?
I have diabetes and a starting BMI of 67. I have been seeing my PCP since June, but I had United Health Care insurance then. I went to my first weight loss seminar in July and found out I had the wrong HMO and Ohio wouldn't let me change to CareSource until Nov. I still went to my PCP every month though so I am hoping they will take that into account and let me have my surgery in March instead of making me wait till Sept so that I have 9 months on their insurance. I had my first meetings at the weight loss clinic last week. I met with the Dietitian, I completed my Psych exam, met with a NUT and the main lady over the clinic. I have a meeting on Friday with my Surgeon and for an Exercise Evaluation. I know I still have to get Clearance from the heart dr and for my lungs. IDK if they will want to run a sleep apnea test yet or not. I will find out about all that on Friday when I meet with Dr Smith. I do know that I go March 1st for my chart review, that is when we will submit everything to CareSource and see when I can have my surgery.
