Wow, thank you all for the great replies! You definitely gave me a lot to think about, and let me answer a few of the points made.
On my oncologist, she's more of a purist and would prefer I lost the weight on my own, but I plan to bring it up to her when I see her at the end of the month for my 6 month checkup.
My onc does offer the sleeve; He recommended the RnY because of the potential cure to my heartburn. He only does the band rarely at this point due to the failures.
Think I might look at the sleeve and ask him about it (I have an appt this afternoon with him). Again, thank you all for the insights and experience, its appreciated!
I just want to point out what you may not know - when people are saying DS, they mean the Duodenal Switch, not related to the sleeve. If your doctor hasn't suggested this, you might want to do some research so that you have all the information that you need to make an informed choice.
