Horrifying new WLS Procedure
Apparently this device was approved for use in EU in December 2011. Initial US clinical trials showed that patients lost, on average, 49% of their excess weight after one year. The device is used in "conjunction with lifestyle modification and requires careful and comprehensive medical management". Patients are being recruited for clinical trials in the US at Brigham and Women's, Northwestern University, and University of Pennsylvania, among other sites. Major complications listed include buried bumper and no mention is made of massive electrolyte imbalances. For more information on clinical trials go to www.clinicaltrials.gov or to the Aspire website at www.aspirebariatrics.com.
I think some people on this forum are being extremely judgemental about the choices that other people may make in order to loose weight.
