Migranes while on Optifast

I'm on day 2 of 21 of my Optifast diet and every time I have a shake I get an instant migrane!  Has anyone else has this problem?  I don't like to take pain killers if possible but this is crazy!

I'm guessing it has something to do with artificial sweeteners.  Call and get another plan.  It's not the end-all-be-all of pre-op diets.

Thanks Valerie.  If it doesn't subside in the next day or so I will definately be calling.

Could either be sugar/caffeine withdrawl or as mentioned a sensitivity to the sweetener. I had a migraine today too and I'm on day 20

Thanks!  I'm leaning towards the sweetener as I got another one this morning after my first shake (not as bad thank god!).  My body is definately not used to getting this amount of sweetener and I can't even drink as many of these shakes as they want me to.  I have an allergy to dairy (which is in optifast) and when I get to the last bit of each shake I'm gagging.  I can manage to get 3 a day without making myself sick so I called the surgeon yesterday and they just told me that a lot of people have trouble with them at first and to keep trying to drink more each day.  Cant say that I'm really happy with that answer especially since I did make them aware of my allergy.  Hopefully the migranes start easing off and I'll just continue on with my 3 a day and have the 2 cups of veg that I'm allowed.  Did you have any problem stomaching the optifast at first?  When is your surgery?  Way to go, making it through 20 days!
