I haven't, but I think that I'd take one of those thermo lunch bags and get one of the smoked turkey legs.  Although, I don't know yet if I'll be able to tolerate turkey.

Wish I was going.  I love to take my granddaughter!!  Enjoy your trip!!!

Hi Michaela! This might be a useful link for you. It is a list of the restaurants at Disney World, and some of them have menus posted on their individual websites: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/

That should give you an idea of what WLS friendly foods are available. A lot of it is going to be a little overprocessed, so you might experience a stall from the excess salt intake. My husband and I go to Busch Gardens in the summer and they usually have grilled chicken sandwiches and barbecue style foods at their stands. A lot of places are now conscious of gluten-free diets, so you have a pretty good chance of being able to lean away from white starches in light of that.

Have a great time and don't worry too much! Be prepared with a protein bar or little bag of nuts just in case, but I think you'll be fine. Enjoy exploring the parks!

i went on vacation within  5 months of surgery (to puerta vallarta). that was a beach vacation so it didn't involve nearly as much walking as disney will. i brought a jug of protein powder and protein bars and made the best choices i could in the restaurants.

keep an eye on the salt and drink as much water as possible. the combination of heat and salt is no bueno. i think you'll enjoy it though and have a decent amount of energy. enjoy! i love disney and can't wait to go back. we're thinking of going for new year's.

I have not been to Disney since my surgery.

What I will tell you is that "what and how you CAN eat" may be very different from "what and how you SHOULD eat'

So much of this journey is mental .... And if you go unprepared and you leave things to chance, it will be much, much harder to get back into a routine after your vacation.

i would wait until about a month before the trip, and analyze what your food needs are and then make a detailed plan for your trip.

you may or may not be on protein shakes, you may need to only have adequate water and will eat the meat  from a ceased salad, or you might have to pack every nibble ...... It is hard to say.

I went to Disney at 3 months post-op .  We had the Disney Dining Plan and had no issues.  I lost 5 pounds that week from all the walking.  It was fantastic!

Surgery weight:  232 lbs. / Goal: 145 lbs. Height:  5'5"     Fat? Ain't nobody got time for that.

We went when I was 3 months out for my 40th birthday. My husband & I shared at all the restaurants and had no trouble. I was usually able to eat 1/2 of what I was given (so 1/4 of a normal serving) and a couple of bites of the desserts.
