I am 10+ years out and have been maintaining my loss well. I eat all of them in moderation. Lettuce - a lot, rice only if it is fresh and I made it myself, or in sushi. Chinese restaurant rice gives me a belly ache. I use all regular salad dressings. Popcorn is a rare treat, mostly only at the movies.

How much depends on which procedure you're getting.

I can eat any of that (and butter in abundance) with my DS.

Yes. You will find that you will be able to eat most things. For a lot of us, the limitations are self imposed.

We are all a little different. I'm almost 5 years out from RnY, started at 274, maintaining 156. I cannot tolerate fats, but can tolerate some sweets. It is still a daily vigilance for me, but if you monitor carefully and introduce (or continue with) exercise, there really isn't much you cannot do. I am very fond of my Iphone app: MyFitnessPal. Free, and a great tool!

Best of luck to you!!!

Love and best wises,

Kate

At some point yes you maybe able.

I wouldn't worry about it right now though, There are plenty of other things that you can enjoy.

I had many things I couldn't tolerate, now I can eat popcorn a small handful and eat a salad, and even a bit of pizza toppings

Still can't eat carbs like breads and rice, but I can't drink soda either. I found when I REALLY REALLY gotta have a soda, I go find my power aide and mix in some fruit punch for a t

It may depend on your surgery type. If you like higher fat foods like butter or salad dressing, then definitely look at the DS. It has the most normal post-op eating, along with the best weight loss.
