And it went well.. but once again it hit me how close and petrified i am... just a huge range of emotions from impatient, sad, happy, it's coming too quick, etc. Anyway i met with a nurse who interviewed me over an hour for past medical issues, current, going over surgery stuff, etc. I have to be at the hospital at 9:30 AM on March 5th surgery is at 11 AM. Also had pre-op labs today wasn't expecting that since i just had them in January.. also had swab samples in my nose to check for staph.

Met with the anesthesiologist and he just asked me a few more of the same questions for about 10 minutes and said see you soon. Afterwards went to my surgeons office and the PA answered any other last minute questions and we did a weigh in i have LOST 5 more pounds since Feb 14th they are extremely pleased. I am currently on day 2 of my pre-op diet. She said ok we are all set next time i see you will be on your surgery day at the hospital i will meet you there with the surgeon.

THEN IT HIT HOME REALITY i have 12 more days until surgery!!!!!!!!!! I am super excited for my new journey to a healthier life and thank god i have been given this second chance. But i am scared. I am thinking of packing my overnight bag tomorrow any recommendations on what to bring? I have toiletiries, chapstick, biotene spray, mp3 player, robe, and slippers.

I remember the feeling.  It is exciting and scary all at the same time.  I actually was not all that nervous until after I got changed into my hospital gown right before surgery.  I swear, being wheeled down the hall to the surgery room, I really wanted to jump off the table and run for it.  I'm so glad I didn't.

You really don't need much of anything in the hospital.  They give you everything you need, including robe, slipper/socks, toiletries, etc.  You might want the chapstick or biotene.  I did take my iPod and listened to relaxation sounds at night so I could sleep.  The one thing you might want to have available in the car on the way home is a pillow for your tummy.  I remember being so thankful I had one.

Best of luck to you.  You're at the start of an incredible adventure.

I brought a sandwich baggie to keep my lip balm in so it did not roll onto the floor.  The only other thing I brought, other than what you have listed, was ear plugs.  I had to be at the hospital for 6:15 for an 8 a.m. surgery.  I wore comfy clothes there and wore the same clothes home.  I also brought a supply of sanitary napkins, just in case Aunt Flo came to visit.  Most hospitals have bricks that they hand out and I prefer the ultra thin version.

Good luck!  Not too much longer.

I wouldnt bother with the robe.  You can get a second gown to wear as a robe and you wont soil your own things.  Another thing to add are earplugs.  The hospital is no place to get a good nights sleep with all the noises in other rooms, or the person next to you.   That's about all you'll need.  I had a bag packed with all kinds of stuff, and only pulled out my hairbrush.

You can go to my page and I wrote a little about my experience. I brought slippers, clothing to go home in, my phone charger, and thats about it. You're so drugged up you wont really want anything except to get the gas pains flowing which you will be walking a lot. I didnt use my slippers because they gave me those sexy blue hospital booties LOL. But I wore my slippers and comfy clothing on the way home.

First CONGRATS on the durgery date!!!

Second bring your chap stick and change of clothes.  The hospital should supply everything else.  Be prepared to walk, walk, walk....it will help get the gas out and the discomfort will be gone quicker!!

Good luck!!
