If you keep pushing yourself like that you'll be explaining to your 6 and 8 yr olds why your back in the hospital!

Doing two walks broken up is completely different to doing one double the time.

Take it easy!!! you may be overdoing it a bit and your body is asking you to take a break and slow down a bit ... . you are still a recent post-op.  At 19 days post-op I could barely make it to the bathroom on my own ... I had a postoperative complication that landed me back in the OR the day after surgery ... at over three months out I got on the treadmill for about 5 minutes or less at the lowest speed and thought I was going to die ... so I took it one day at a time and got stronger each day ... now I run marathons and at 6 years post-op I am still rocking my journey with the same excitement as the very first year...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are doing an awesome job already .... just go a bit easier on yourself... take that nap and enjoy it!!!

Wishing you nothing but the best on your journey!!!

Yes exhaustion is normal and yes it gets better!    It took me 3 months to get rid of the exhaustion due to having been back in the hospital with complications.  Be kind to yourself!  Listen to your body.  Rest when your body wants it.  Good shoes are a great idea.  Stay hydrated and consume protein pre and post exercise.    This is a lifelong change - there will be plenty of time to get your exercising in.  You're doing fine!!

Hi Laura!

I was EXHAUSTED from normal activities until about 4 weeks post op and still needed a nap most days until about 6 weeks out. Walking some days meant walking around my house. I always tried to get up and move to meet the walking chart guidelines but some days it was not possible. You will get there over time. If you are exhausted... you are doing too much. The chart is just a guide. Slow down for a couple of days and build your strength back up. Before you know it you will be chasing your kids again :-)

Take care of yourself!

Sue

Girl, you just had surgery. Your body is still healing. I did absolutely no exercise for the first 7 months and still got to goal. Take care of yourself while you get used to your new life.

I was completely exhausted the first six months.
