Apathy - failure - reaching GOAL. Why do you share your numbers?

I think it's totally a choice if you want to post your numbers and not one person has the right to question or judge why.

I have always posted my weight because it means something to me to see the number written down.  I know that no one besides me gives a rats ass what I weigh, but I do, and hopefully the fact I can be successful at this long term can inspire someone else that they can too.

And my weight is 137 as of the last weigh in, which I think was that moment in time after my last period when I didn't feel bloated and my jeans felt really loose.  I do not want to know what I weigh any other times during the month especially if the scale reads 14 anything, that would just ruin my day.

For me, it is about accountability.

In the past, I lost significant amounts of weight and then became complacent and went into a level of denial that allowed me to gain it back plus some.

this time, I remain accountable through the numbers.  They are for me .. To keep me aware and out of denial.

i weight daily and take action if the scale is up more than a few pounds.

Wow. This not posting numbers stuff is news to me. I joined this site sometime around 2002. I have not been very active over the past 5-6 years but visit from time to time to ask a question or offer a little encouragement to someone new. I'm sure that some things must change along with research in order to better this area of medicine. But I say...long live your comic sans, tickers, and measurable results. They make a difference.

I'm with Heidi on this. I know no one else really cares what my numbers are, but I'm a numbers girl and they matter to me so I post them. It keeps me accountable. Anything over my goal weight is unacceptable. I had surgery to change my life and I'm not throwing that away. It's a daily battle and one I will continue to fight forever.

Other people do not have to post their numbers, but if they are not at least being honest with themselves, they are going to have a tough time on their journey.

I do find it ironic when some of the self-proclaimed "experts" in the bariatric community STOP posting their numbers and posting pictures and expect us to support their businesses because they know everything (I'm not referring to anyone who actively posts here). If you regain, at least admit it. We're not stupid.

I like your post. Sometimes questions do make you think, and sometimes questions are a subtle  attack on your outlook. (ok sometimes it's really not very subtle at all.)

While I don't think my "Goal weight" is a magic cure all for all that ails me, I do think the closer I get to that number the more other 'metrics' of happiness will fall into place for me.

Great post!  Sharing is what we are here for, is it not? The good, the bad, the feelings.....that number made you FEEL something. This is a support community and your sharing is what we are here for. Keep up the good work Beth!
