G'morning gals and guys ~ So this is the morning after - where we either BRAG or CONFESS about our challenges with the lil ones. No, not the kids dressed up as goblins and witches, the lil CANDY treats. For me - The first 30 minutes was easy enough. I was motivated and the foot traffic was all consuming so I was too busy to sneak any bites. The 2nd half hour became more of a challenge - I even went so far as to smell a few pieces. Nah - Im not a full fledged addicted sweet-a-holic! Three minutes later, I find my 'head' having a complete and detailed conversation with itself. Good grief, you could probably SEE the chubby devil on one shoulder and the thin and healthy angel on the other. Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no, yes, no - oh all right, GIMME ONE!!!! Yep - I gave in, had a coupla' pieces actually. Now first of all, I don't view food as "evil or bad" and I don't see anything wrong with a couple of pieces. That's NOT what this is all about. It's about the TRIGGER foods that can and will send me into a binge. After practically inhaling 3 small pieces of candy (oh, and I even got the crap I normally DON'T like) ... I finally decided to do what any mature adult who's in total control of their demons would do! I literally dumped the ENTIRE BOWL in the next kids bag that came to the door. LOL, he musta' been 4 years old, dressed up as Shrek - you shoulda seen his eyes when he realized that the tall blonde lady was not giving him just a handful of candy, but the entire loot. It weighed more then he did and his momma had to help hold the bag up - but I was FREE!!!! Porch lights off - doors locked - Candy Land is CLOSED for the year! Soooooooooo, how did everyone else do? Good morning, Lei! I'm only 5 days post op, so I knew if I got within 10 feet of those little chocolate morsels, I'd dump. That's one good way to motivate yourself not to touch them!

Hi Leilani, Hi Leilani! Ok, I am picturing the little boy looking at you while you dumped the entire bowl in his bag. It will be a story tonight at his dinner table I am sure. His mother at this moment is probably either hiding most of it away to give him little by little or has eaten some of it by now. My husband is usually the one to eat all the chocolate, but he has been good so far. I am pre op so the worry of dumping doesn't scare me. What I did instead was leave my older daughter to give all the candy out. Told her to make sure none was left. I took the little ones out for trick or treating. So, am I free? Nope! We have 6 kids in the house! All but one went out. We now have 8 gallon size ziplock bags of candy in our cabinet. I will be eating a lot of popcorn, air popped, so at least it is healthier then the candy. I also will be giving away a lot of the candy. My dad and grandmother just love chocolate. The children may scream when I do this, but they will live. I give them 24 hours before I start giving the stuff away. I think next year I will just hide under the bed. I will hopefully have had surgery by then, so the threat of dumping might scare me away. Take care, Marlene

Marlene, when my kids were little, their candy would disappear little by little (well, I have to admit their dad and I got into their chocolate a lot), and they never noticed. We just didn't tell them that we were getting rid of it little by little. Of course, when they got older, they kept good track of those chocolate candy bars, and dad and I didn't get away with any sneaky stuff there. But the hard candies mostly got ignored. By Christmas we were throwing out the leftover stuff they were not touching.

LOL - Denise! Sooooooooooooooooo, you did the ol' tip toe into the bedroom with a flashlight in search of the kiddies loot bags, didya? ME TOO!!!! I got away with it for several years, while Keoni (my son) was younger. About the time he turned 9 or 10 though, he got SMART! He new exactly how many snickers, milkyways, M&Ms, etc he had in that bag and lord help his 'momma' if it changed overnight. - Lei

LOLOL - Marlene, Dontcha know that Im a HERO in that lil 4 year olds eyes? ...and in his Momma's eyes, Im the scum of all that's sweet and sugary in life! LOLOL - I think she wanted to reach out and smack me silly because she's smart enough to realize I literally pushed (dumped) my demons on her, via her kids trick-o-treat bag! Of course it didn't stop me! Good luck with the 6 kids (SIX?!?!?!?!) in your house and all of their loot. Thankfully, my son is 25 now and I no longer have to deal with all of the temptations that used to come home in his bags of candy. Good grief, that son of mine could gather the candy!! Hugs - Lei

Well, I gave in around 11 and ate 1/2 of a bitesized SF PB Cup. To be quite honest it didnt taste as good as I remembered! I am glad I did try it though because now I look at my sisters HUGE bowl of candy and I dont have the slightest urge to eat it. Last year I would have been sitting here eating it, every reeses, snickers, twix, and kit kat I could find! So all in all Im proud of myself! With love, Em (recovering chocoholic)
