Today is my SURGIVERSARY!!!! 8-8-08 ...5 years ago today. WOW. I'm still amazed at all the changes that have come about in my life because of what happened that morning.

First and foremost....no more diabetes. Fasting blood sugar 2 weeks ago was 80. The scales are 60 lbs down from my heaviest. I wear a size 18/20 now...not a 26/28. My blood pressure is text book perfect.

Because I knew what it was like to feel good, I was able to pick up on my heart rate problem and have a pacemaker implanted before I fell out and/or died.

I walked a 10k.

My kids are healthier. They made the transition to living in a house without sodas and sugary treats. My oldest son in fact has lost betwen 75 and 100 lbs. No sodas and a growth spurt played a huge role in that.

My self-image/awareness took a huge leap forward. I freed myself of a toxic relationship. Took a breather to focus on me and then met THE LOVE of my life.

There have been some down sides. A few friends didn't agree with my decision. In time I realized that they were motivated by jealousy and I ridded myself of those relationships as well. A run in with RH and the fun that comes along with low blood sugar. Now there's an issue with needing iron infusions.

Given 5 years to think about my decision....I'd do it all over again. Only faster.

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Congratulations!  Yes, I have complications too, but I would do it again.  There's nothing like the freedom of movement and not having your own body get in your way.
