Is it common to keep your decison for WLS private?

At first I was super shy and almost ashamed of needing the surgery so I almost did not tell anyone. About a week before I told a few close people. After losing some weight I opened up more about it.

Now that I have lost all my weight I had the lower body lift and just (3 weeks ago) had my boobs and arms done and I am super crazy open with the whole process. You may just need to get use to it but it is your life do what feels right to you!

You have to go with your gut on what is right for you.  If you decide to tell people you will know when the time is right and if not, that is fine also

Thank you all so very much. I really appreciate  your support and experience stories. I see that many of the feeling that I am.

I told my pastors wife today.  I had told her a month ago due to a children's program teaching schedule. I said elective at the time, but every time we see each other she asks how I am feeling, not being nosy but I realized she was concerned something was seriously wrong with me.  Now I know someone else will be praying for me.

Like others besides that for now it is immediate family, 2 close friends (one who had similar surgery and is flying here to "take care of me" post op), and my boss out of necessity.

I hope one day to encourage others and also be a "poster child" of a good choice for better health.

Thanks everyone...btw surgery date in Nov 5
