Next to Squats you cannot beat a deadlift for building strength. You need to make sure you do these right as it is very easy to hurt yourself if you do not keep your back straight.

I don't lift weights but my 60+lb golden retriever.  She thinks she is a baby and needs to be lifted up.  Shes freaking heavy.  I am still impressed I can lift her up, she is at the top of my range.  The fact I can lift anything with my arthritis is a miracle.
