I see more people talking about coconut oil as a healthy fat, but aren't saturated fats just less unhealthy than trans fats?  I haven't seen data saying they're good for you the way I have things like walnuts and olive oil.

There is a lot of new data coming out about saturated fats that is leading us to believe that they are not as bad as originally thought, particularly with low carb/ketogenic diets. Coconut oil is particularly good because it contains high amounts of medium chain triglycerides. Medium chain triglycerides do not require any special action in your digestive tract and are easily absorbed and converted to energy. So when we are trying to burn fat for fuel any fats that contain medium chain triglycerides are a good option. Most other saturate fats contain long chain triglycerides which digest more slowly and require other enzymes in your gut.

Now that is not to say that if your diet is made up of high amounts of saturated fats like most of ours were before that bad things might not happen, but right now on a low carb diet saturated fats in moderation are fine.
