I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a bad experience. I had a DS done with Dr. Aceves in August of 2012. He is amazing! I'm also from Calgary. I'm going to send you a PM with some information about what I'm doing for aftercare.

Thank you to all of you! Your support is overwhelming! It really is an unfortunate situation and after reading some of the awful experiences that others have had I have decided to try to make a difference. So I made another appointment with my Doctor in a few days and I am going to tell her exactly how I feel. Maybe she doesn't know how insensitive she is being and if I can prevent even just one person from going through what I have gone through then I think it will be worth it.

I will say the truth!!!   YOUR DOCTOR IS A TOTAL AND COMPLETE ASS!!!!!  She needs to get another job, and you can file a complaint.     I don't recall you stating you went for your obgyn exam to be treated like a lazy human!

doctors like these need to have complaints given so maybe they can learn!!

I am soooooooooooooo sorry this happened to you and enjoy your weightloss with a differend obgyn!!

What a FREAKING MEAN GIRL DOCTOR!!!!!

My surgeon retired 6 months after I had my DS. Fortunately, so did my PCP. I say fortunately, because that led me to finding my current PCP, who's a wonderful, understanding woman who doesn't have a God complex. She treats me like an intelligent adult, and she admits that I know more about my designer guts than she does. Over the years she's ordered every lab test that I've told her I need, and she discusses the results with me.

You really do need to have a local doctor, but YOU need to keep an eye on your lab results yourself. Keeping a spreadsheet will allow you to track things over time, and head off any potential problems.

Given your BMI, I strongly urge you to research the DS. The DS has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats for patients of any size, but especially so for those of us with a BMI greater than 50. It also has the bests stats for resolving or preventing things like diabetes and high cholesterol. The post-op lifestyle's pretty sweet, too. (*grin*)

All my life I have been ridiculed because of my weight.  I know some of the experiences you've been through.   I've just learned to write them off as ignorant idiots, but your doctor should have known better!  You can't tell me she hasn't encountered having to use bigger blood pressure cuffs or heard of the difficulty of  obese patients to lose some weight, much less 100 pounds!  I know how difficult it is to locate a doctor.  In America, my insurance limits me greatly.  You hate to try to change when you've found one.

I'm not a doctor or by any means an expert, but when you go to see her again, tell her exactly your feelings and intentions.  You are due just as much respect as anyone else and should be listened to.  It's your right!  The doctor is "employed" by you, not you by her.  If she still disrespects you, then I would report her!

That's my 2 cents worth.  I hope it will help.  My thoughts & prayers are with you.
