Home after Surgery.
My fiance is having surgery on the 17th. I'm excited for him, but scared for him at the same time. We live four hours apart. I will be with him the day of the surgery, and 2 days after. Will he be okay for a couple days by hisself at home? Is that reasonable or should I plan to be there the whole week.
I was in the hospital for 3 days (2 nights). I didn't want to do anything for two days after coming home except for rest and sleep. Thankfully I stayed with may parents for those few days and they got me water and protein drinks. By Sunday, 5 days after surgery, I felt great and was on schedule with my liquids, protein shakes and vitamins. I'd recommend staying for the week if you don't want to drive there and back a few times. Good luck!! :)
If all goes well, he should be okay. After a couple of days, I wanted to be left alone. Make sure he has all the foods he needs in the house because he cannot drive until he's off pain meds. You can even make some good soft protein items and freeze them in ice cube trays so he can just nuke one or two cubes of soft soup or something easily.

Well, the plan for me was to have the sleeve and stay for a 23 hour observation. That went out the window in recovery room. I had some complications with breathing and two drug reactions *the sleeve was fine, however* so i ended up staying 4 nights instead of only 1. I was doing pretty well by the time i came home, but I was very glad that my DH was available to help me . He is retired so he was close at hand most of the time.
