Did anyone try either of these products? I am taking the biotin and my hair is already so thin and now I am 2 months out and it is falling out. Its really depressing. My hair dresser said that these may or may not help me. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried them??? Thanks.

Rebecca, I have very thick hair and cut it short in preparation for the onslaught of hair loss. I just couldn't imagine seeing my long thick hair all over the floor of the shower. A good friend of mine suggested taking biotin, to help with hair loss, she lost a ton and it grew back beautifully. I also went and bought a really cute wig, just in case, I wear it every now and again just because I love long hair and it gives me options. Good Luck, Heidi

Hi Rebecca, I've been using Rogaine for a few months now due to the extreme hair loss I had with my PCOS (and losing a lot of weight this year compounded it of course). I've noticed a pretty good slow down in hair loss but only minimal growth. I also do my protein and biotin, and I'm hoping with time, my hair will get a little thicker up top. All of my other symptoms from the PCOS (erratic menstrual cycles, abdominal fat deposition, depression, etc...) have improved dramatically with weight loss. So now if I can just have my hair back! I have to keep it colored so I don't look bald on top. Julie S.

Hi Rebecca, I started using the Nioxin several months before my surgery. I'm now just about 5 months post-op and have had minimal hair loss. (which is a really good thing because my hair is soooo fine and thin to begin with that I really can't afford to lose any!!) I'm sorry you're having this problem. My understanding is that once it starts falling out there's not much you can do about it. It will stop on its own. Just keep getting in all your protein and take your vitamins. Hugs and , Kathy

Rebecca, I am using the Nioxin and I haven't started losing hair yet. I am 8 weeks today and totally expect to lose some, but I feel my hair has gotten thicker since I started using it. I purchased it back in January and began using it immediately. It isn't cheap but I think it will help me in the process. Good Luck, Dana

Several have tried sublingual vitamins or vitamin spray was great for their hair. I've also heard some say their hair was different when it grew back, softer, shinier, curly vs straight. I haven't cut my hair (yet), I'm still sitting on it. I have too much hair anyway, when I blow it dry, it's a fuzz ball all the way down to my tushy. My neice is a hairdresser and she suggests that I get it cut and have a wig made from my hair. Similar to chemo patients. Alli /

. I Googled Nioxin and from what I read it sounded like a scam. Reports from users stressed an unpleasant texture, suggesting that it just coats what hair you have. I got some generic minoxidil from one of the "Sam's Club" type stores - it's for men only, but if you read the package, the women's version is exactly the same, but with HALF the strength. I use it once a day instead of twice, and have doubled up on my B-complex vitamins (along with the biotin). I think the loss has slowed down a bit, but it's early yet. .

Rebecca- My youngest daughter has used Nioxin for years to keep her psorriasis under control and she has always had incredible hair, desipe her scalp problems. I started using it just after surgery and eight weeks out my hair looks better than before surgery (and I have since dyed it.) I was very skeptical in the beginning, but it does seem to be helping. I also started taking biotin a month before surgery. Hope this helps. Theresa Carroll
