Surgery is the easy way out!
I can totally relate to this post.
I've posted a similar list on my Facebook page in the past.I've been told on more than one occasion, that I took the easy way out. Sure, after losing large amounts of weight and regaining them, always with a lot more added, I decided to completely rearrange my insides, because it's "easy". People really amaze me. One woman I met during a 5k run, was extremely rude and nasty about it. She told me how she had lost 50 lbs "the right way". I did that many times myself, and then I realized it wasn't working, and lost 182 lbs with my RNY.Had my surgery in 2005, got pregnant in 2006, and I've kept the wieght off since 2007.
Now I'm deqling with a marginal ulcer, that created a serious stricture, and may need to have a revision to a DS, to fix the damage.I spent 4 days in the hospital last month, due to severe dehydration, and needed 2 dilatations to open the stoma enough to keep anything down. I'm still glad I did it, but is sooooo farm from the easy way out.
It sounds like you're doing a great job at following the rules. Sometimes we just get bit by the unlucky bug, and unfortunately you've had your turn. Congrats on your progress so far! I hope to be as successful as you have, and have the positive outlook as well! May you have the very best luck with your healing, and I hope to read about your success here!
It's encouraging to see people successful after so long.

Thanks It hasn't been easy fighting my food demons and dealing with other health issues, but it was a great decision. I've been told we'll know in about 2 months, whether I'll need a revision. If the meds don't heal the ulcer, then it'll be time to break out the big guns lol. Still, I don't regret it a bit. I wouldn't have my 2 amazing little boys, if not for this surgery. I'd also likely be over 500 lbs by now, as I was pushing 400 when I chose to have my RNY in 2005.
Best wishes to you, for a wonderful journey, with great success!
MichaelW, I found our writing to be a well written turn on perspectives. Each body and personality is unique on how it gathers and maintains fat. There is much more involved than cake coming in and being processed out. Surgery requires a lot of forethought. Thanks for giving your time and sharing your humor and wisdom.
