Dont be too grossed out, if you wear contact lenses, some solutions also have sterilized pig intestines in them. Well actually alot of them do.

Hi there, Maria... The whole RNY malabsorption thing, primarily of the fat soluble vitamins, in addition to the restrictions of taking some medications like NSAIDS was in large part why I chose the Duodenal Switch as opposed to the RNY. We are left with a fully functioning, albeit, much smaller stomach [subtotal sleeve gastrectomy] and an intact pyloric valve which more readily absorbs these needed vitamins. Unfortunately, the surgically fashioned pouch does not lend itself well to certain nutritional requirements, hence the need for added supplementation. As for me, my malabsorption is more selective, but I still need to take a daily multivitamin along with some ultra-dense calcium supplementation. My labs have been stellar to date. It's good that you are getting the necessary nutritional advice and supplements needed so close to your surgery date. If you'll permit a personal observation, it just has to be said what an incredibility stunningly, handsome woman you are as a pre-op. One wonders from your thumbnail how you could possibly improve Wishing you the very best on your upcoming surgery and I shall look forward to reading more on how you progress.
