Newbie Intro :-)

I spent a 50-minute hour talking to the psych guy. We did talk about my childhood a little, mostly I think because I went on my first doctor-supervised diet at 9, and first diet pills at 11.

Mostly he wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into---that having WLS was going to change my life FOREVER, and that I would always have to take vitamins and eat mindfully. He also wanted to make sure I had reasonable expectations about what the surgery would and wouldn't do for and to me. It was no big deal, really.

I've seen a lot of people say they had to take the MMPI, but that seems pretty pointless to me---but then, I see a lot of people get approved who shouldn't have ben, so my opinion probably doesn't count. (*grin*)

My psych eval was like yours, Peachpie, in terms of duration and directness. 

Kevin, even though that sounds really different from my and peachpie's experiences, we can't ever tell what the psychologist is going to ask. I was a little nervous, because a few folks in my program had warned me about the "invasiveness" of this particular doctor, but my appointment went quickly and efficiently.  Your doctor will want to ensure you are ready for this journey and if not, will want to help you prepare for the mental challenges.   I agree with everyone else to say, just be honest and direct - if you need a little more follow up, you have time to get that before your surgery.

And congratulations to you on starting your journey!  What a great gift to yourself, your spouse, and to your little children! 

So my psych went well and was given the green light for surgery.  Now I just have to wait for my insurance to approve me; which according to the nurse coordinating me Blue Cross is quick to approve.  Keeping my fingers crossed as I'm still on track for May 21st for surgery. :)

Attained my goal date, surgery is scheduled for May 21, 2015!
