pregnant after tubal w/clams after WLS???

I had my tubes tied in sept of 2003 anyways just yesterday i found out that i have something called "wings" i have clamps on them. My doc said that if I EVER miss a period to get tested.. there is a chance of beging pregnant after tubal.... well then i went on to tell him i am having WLS (VBG) November 1st and he said that i am more then likey to miss a peirod or 3 but to test.. he said that with the weight loss it ups my changes of getting pregnat with the clamps.. so my question is has anyone ever exsperienced this??? Hi there, My girlfriend had her tubes tied back in 96 and she had something called Hulka Clips------She always says its impossible to get pregnant, I guess it would be true that you can get pregnant? I always heard that its so effective...I would like some imput on that as well just for curiousity.... Thanks In Advance, Tiffany

It is possible to get pregnant after this procedure. It is also possible to get pregnant after a vasectomy and even after a tubal that was lacerated. The body has an incredible way of healing itself. So, unless something like the uterus is totally removed, pregnancy is a possibility (provided you're having sex or God intervenes). If you're concerned, perhaps you'd like to practice a 2nd method of birth control for the first year. Congratulations! ~Vanessa~

I've never hear of the wings thing, I am not sure what that is. I had my tubes tied 5 years ago. I figured if titanium was good enough for the space shuttle, then it was good enough for my tubes! My husband was so embarassed because I kept asking the doctor if he clamped them down tight enough. I blame the drugs! Seriously though, there is a slight chance of getting pregnant after having a tubal ligation, but the doctor told me if it didn't happen in the first 2-3 years, it probably wouldn't ever. I have only known one person in my life that got pregnant after having her tubes tied. Until I met her I always thought it was an urban legend! Annie

I had my tubes tied after i had a DnC because i had misscarried.... not a high point in my life, my baby at the time was only 10 weeks old when i found out i was pregnant a second time becca was born may 13th and i had the tubal done sept 9th and i was just 2 months along........ so as i said i had found out yesterday.. i wont be upset in the least if i find out i am pregnant again but if the chances increase after WLS i am thinking i should deffintly be put on the pill or have hubby use a condom (he hates them as much as i do).... ummmm just wondering on everyone elses thoughts were on this subject. when I had my tubal I was told by my Dr. that 1/500 get pregnant after a tubal, and the highest likelyhood was when you have it done immediately after childbirth. the real danger is that most pregnancies after a tubal are ectopic or tubal pregnancies where the embryo implants into the fallopian tube rather than the uterus. The tube can rupture and an ectopic pregnancy can be life threatening if not treated in time.
