Are You Naked In Surgery??

Yes, you are naked. But you'll be out like a light and as everyone else said, they've seen it all and probably heard a few thing too. For me modesty went out the window after I had my first child.

Patty, is there a such thing as modesty, I lost some after my first child, more after the second and heck after a couple of other surgeries, hmmmm it's gone . I use to worry about it all but I figure docs have seen more than we can imagine so I don't worry anymore. Dana

Do they do the catheter after you're out? I'd like to think so. I hope I'm either out or high when they do that. My urethra is very special to me

I woke up with mine in already, but of course, I was awake when they took it out, which they did early on the day I went home.

My doctor doesn't do catheters, so check with yours. Not all do...

They inserted mine pre-op. My nurses must have Catheter Degrees - never felt it go in. P~ "Life is too short to wear sensible shoes!"

Oh yeah you are totally nudie rudie!!! The only time it bothered me was during a D&C, when the Dr. introduced me to 4 medical students who were going to watch the proceedure....of course they were all male!! I thought, geesh, they will all get a real good look at everything I've got and they could take photos and I'd never know. hee hee hee Susan

the only surgeries I have witnessed were 100's of C- sections and they all had their gowns on , but pulled up and draped so only the area of the incision was exposed. a couple of surgeries in nursing school, also gowned and just pulled up to expose the area. I am sure I had to be stripped down for plastics as each time they were operating on more than one body part. upper and lower body, front and back of body. that didn't freak me out, but waking up with my pubic hair shaved sure did. male Dr. , male anesthesiolodgist , male scrub nurse. Just exactly who shaved me???? Next round of plastics, no one is shaving me cause I am getting a brazilian wax before I go in.

Hi Missy: When you go into any kind of surgery, you are naked. But just like another person posted, they've seen it all. When you're out, you won't even know that they're looking at you anyways. My bariatric surgeon is a cutie and it kinda made me embarrased because he saw me naked but now...who cares... Monica
