Giving yourself an enema...
I had a colonoscopy two weeks ago, had to get things cleaned out!!
They gave me the fleet enema and I was afraid because I never had to do this. Well, I followed the instructions on the box, not only was it easy, it worked! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and boy, did I feel lighter!
Don't get me wrong, this isn't something I plan on doing often!!
Hope you're feeling better soon!

The morning before WLS I was still having BMs with substance, even after a night of racking up a million frequent crapper miles, so my hubby went to an all-night drugstore and brought me two fleets. Initially while hovering over the toilet in a semi-squat, I managed to easily get the enema nozzle in, but then couldn't squeeze the fluid up. So I got on my backside, but the enema nozzle came out. My belly was so big, I could not reach around and get it in the right position. Once I thought I had it, but ended up just making a big puddle around myself on the hotel bathroom floor. Let me tell you, I tried from EVERY angle. Hands and knees, one foot on the sink, and until my little sphincter (which had really been through the ringer that night, thanks to the M.O.M.) was unbelievably sore. Finally ... I had to humble myself and ask my hubby for help. It wasn't the worst thing in the world ... I lay on my side on the hotel bed (on a pile of towels), and he did the business part of it. After that it is easy ... just relax till nature does it's thing. So ... it CAN be easy or hard, depending on your body shape.
Good luck!
I have given myself one and it is not that hard. I laid on my side on my bed with a towel under me. Not to be graphic, but open your legs and insert the tip. It will tell you how to on the Fleet box. Then clench your cheeks together and head for the bathroom. I wouldn't sit down just yet b/c it will be hard to hold it in. Once you can't hold it in anylonger (you will know when this is) sit down and
Hope this helps you out.
Hugs,
Bridget

Hi,
I have never given myself an enema, but I do suggest that once you are cleaned out you make sure you get enough fiber so you don't have to do it again. I am a huge fan of ground flaxseed. See Dame Tooter's website for some practical information on flaxseed. http://www.bariatricbytes.com
Good luck!

I had to use a Fleet's bisacodyl enema for my colonoscopy in Aug. Although I was afraid to use it, the directions were easy to follow and it wasn't so bad. I was pretty well cleaned out already from the phosphosoda so the effluent was less than I expected. I wish I could tell you how long it will take to work with an impaction. Good luck, an impaction is no laughing matter.
