heimlich maneuver ?

Lynn, As a CPR instructor, nothing would be done differently than it was before. You still cough if something gets stuck that's all the heimlich is doing for you. Creating an effective cough. When someone is unconcious and choking we do CPR with a visual sweep of the mouth, in place of the hiemlich to make the steps more memorable to the lay person (general public). I hope this helps.
