Topic: newborn ducks
I had the coolest experience today! My mother lives on a lagoon that leads out to the bay and she has had a duck nesting under a bush in her yard. Well today the babies hatched and they are the cutest little things I have ever seen! We thought there was 10 babies until we followed the sound of chirping and saw that some had fallen into the sewer. Luckily my father was home and we pried the sewer grate open and rescued another 4 babies. So there are 14 babies and the mother living under her bush and they are just so sweet! Just had to share this story because it was really cool to hold a baby duck that was just born today.

Topic: Looking to adopt
I am looking for a good, smart, potty trained, little dog to be a companion to my father who is seventy and my son who is four. I would like a schnauzer or cairn terrier or jack russell, kind of dog. mixed breed is fine!!! I have been to my local shelter unfortunetly because of the breif amount of time spent with the animals the care takers can not tell me if one particular dog or another would be good for my family. I don't want to adopt and then find out that our new family member doesn't do well with children or seniors. I recently had to place a puppy with another home because he was just too much dog for both my father and my son. My son was devistated, my dad relieved.
thank you

Does the clinic have the pet credit program? I'm sorry I can't think of what it is called right now - I work in a clinic and we have it. Something Care. It is for people with pets and problems just like yours. It allows payments to be made over a years time WITHOUT interest!
I'll try to find out the name - sorry I'm not feeling well tonight and can't seem to think straight.

Hey Pamela!
I just happened to see your post and I am going to give you a girlfriend's email address. She works with wildlife rescue in NC and had to go through the shots you are talkin of. She is out of town until nex Wednesday, however, does have access to her email. Her name is Kathy Deck and her email is [email protected] Just tell her you met me online and I referred you to her. We are all great animal lovers and it is my pleasure to try to help another one!

Topic: Starting with Wildlife rescue
I and my house mate are starting in the spring to do native and endangered specie wildlife rescue and rehabilitation... It has been recommended that we have Pre exposure rabies immunizations - Anyone ever had these? What can I expect? Thanks!
Topic: Great Dane
I haven't posted for so long because I never see any action on this board! Anyway, I have a new rescue, too! She is a 6 year old Great Dane with a beautiful brindle coat! Her family lost their home in the September flooding and their new landlord wouldn't allow her to stay. We were also greatly affected from the floods and I felt obliged to help this dog and family. We were so very blessed with help from complete strangers who came in and rebuilt our home and lives and gave us temporary housing! How could anyone ever say no to giving back?! Our girl is the most well behaved lovey dog in the world! She is very cuddley and needs to be close all of the time. I am no longer freezing at night (since WLS) because she engulfs me with her enormous being! Our three year "old wild child" daughter is not a problem either. The dog is very careful around her! We really lucked out!

Lisa,
What a great thing to do! My dream is to have some land (hell, I'd take a yard bigger than a sidewalk!) and be able to do rescue. Good luck with everything!

Topic: NEW Rescue!
I'm very pleased to announce that the Andrews Foster and Rescue Center is now open! I have moved here from MN and just started doing rescue of medium to small dogs again. I have a local vet I work with that helps with shots and spaying and neutering. So far its a great relationship! I've been doing this for 6 years now, and have 9 dogs in forever homes across the country!
So if y'all need a foster home that retrains and rehomes, please feel free to drop me an email and I'll see what I can do to help!
Y'all take care!

Topic: RE: greyhounds help save them
brenda,
I know this is an old post, but I just found it! I have two rescued retired greyhounds. We had another but he passed away 11/02. They are wonderful pets! I especially like that mine don't bark. (rarely anyway...and only if it's REALLY important) Good luck with your greyt dog! Be careful though...they are like potato chips, most folks find they can't just have one!
