Topic: Looking for a JRT
Hello everyone-
My name is Patti Liszewski and I am from Walker Michigan and I am looking for a JRT. We had a male and he was mean and we had to put him down because he was a biter. We really miss him and are looking for another one. I really would prefer a spayed female over 1 year as we have an intact male English Springer Spaniel. We also have a cat so our JRT would have to get along with them both. Please help us as we are still heartbroken......Thanks to all of you!
Topic: RE: New puppy
Congratulations on your new "baby"! Labs are very active dogs and you will need to see that she gets plenty of exercise. It's still quite early to leave a puppy out of the crate at nite. Many people like the fact that their dog always sleeps in the crate; I'm not one of them. I always housebroke my pups by letting them sleep in the bed with me; lots of people don't like that idea! And, they were Great Danes to boot!! But, they always slept thru the nite and no accidents. You can also try just keeping them in the bedroom with you and closing the door.
The crate is a good safe place for them so they won't get into michief and you have yet to go thru the chewing stages. Image what you could get up to find in the morning! They aren't thru chewing until about 9months.
See that she gets lots of exercise before going to bed. Feed an early supper and limi****er in the evening.
Good luck!

Topic: New puppy
My husband and I got a Lab mix puppy from a rescue shelter last Saturday. She is now 11 weeks old, and all black. We named her Abbie. Abbie is a cute puppy, but a crazy dog!
She looks like a lab, but they didn't know what she was mixed with. The vet says that her mom or dad could have been purebred Lab and the other one could have been Lab mixed with something since she looks like a Lab. She is doing good with housebreaking, but how do we know when she is ready to not spend the night in her cage?
Thanks
Stacy

Topic: RE: ANYONE GOING TO SCHOOL FOR VET TECH AT WCCCD?
I went for a interview at Nova Vet in medina, ohio for vet asst. position. The dr had all of us lined up in her operating room, and were able to watch her perform surgery on a yellow lab.
Neatest thing I ever experienced. My point is as a vet tech you maybe asked to put your hands inside the animal while the dr is operating . Also you can close as a Certified Vet. Tech.
fyi.

Topic: RE: ANYONE GOING TO SCHOOL FOR VET TECH AT WCCCD?
Hi Krista,
I've been contemplating about going to school to become a vet tech too. I'm just not sure if I can handle it (shots, blood etc) I simply love animals, but just not sure if I'm cut out to do that kind of work.
What school are you thinking about applying/attending at?
The schools I've looked into have different tuition fees and also depends if you qualify for any kind of assistance too.
Good luck!!

Topic: RE: any bird lovers??
I am a bird lover and have a ****atiel and an African Grey. The teil is the most loving, sweet bird and my Grey is a brat (lol). It is unbelievable how smart he is and how much he talks. I love them both to death.

Topic: RE: My home
What a wonderful life you have. I live in Sugar Land, TX, a suburb of Houston, aka, HELL. We have no mass transit, heat that is so severe that you can fry an egg on the sidewal 65-70% of the year. I hate living here and would love to move to a climate with 4 seasons but my husband is in the oil business and that's mainly in Houston.
I grew up in Denmark and want to move back once the kids are grown up. We have a Sharpey/Golden Retriever named Marley. She is 5 1/2 mos. old and 45+ pounds. The only time she can be outside is early in the morning or after 6:30 at night because of the heat. This is no way to live.
Congratulations on your new life. Sounds as if you found "heaven on Earth".

Topic: RE: So Calif...need a home for 8 mo kitten and 5 mo kitten!!
Here in Houston and the surounding suburbs we have "no kill" shelters. You might want to look into that if you can't find a home for your kitties.
Additionally, don't give them away (unless you know the people). Sell them for a small fee. This will help weed out the freaks who get animals for free and then ignore, torture or hurt them. Ask for references, etc. Be a detective for your cats. You might go to a local shelter and ask them for a copy of the forms that they require people to fill out when people adopt.
I used to be an Animal Adoption Counselor so I'm really leary of what conditions that animals are sent to. You can email me if you need any advice or help.
