Topic: What gives?
This is only my second forum experience, the other is for horse lovers, and I am wondering what it takes to get people to respond? The horse people all respond to posts, even if it's just to say that they don't know about your subject, but here, I don't seem to get any notice at all. So, what does it take to get someone out there to answer a question?
Topic: big ifs...
I'm posting on several boards to get as much response as possible- Thanks!
Hi everyone,
It's been on my mind for a while and I ahve decided to take action. So, I thought I'd put it out there, see what comes back and depending on the response, try to put together set of a comprehensive results. Thanks in advance for your help ( and for not FLAMING me...

If you had to take a "written" test to help you understand if you were prepared to deal with, take on, cope with WLS, would you take it? What quetions would be on this test?
If there were a test to help you determine where you needed to improve your skills and habits in order to have a successful WLS, what would be on it?
If there were a test you could take periodically to assess your strengths and weaknesses in your pre- and post-WLS progress, would you use it? What topics would it cover?
if there were a workshop for your "circle of support" to take to help you on your journey, would you ask them to participate? Why or why not? Would this be a one shot deal or a series of workshops?
If there were a test devised to suggest and/or assess which WLS would be most successful for you, would you take it? What questions do you think should definitely be on it?
If there were an assesment you could use to determine if your WLS medical team was a good fit for you, would you use it? What questions would be on it? What info would you "have" to know?
How would you define WLS "success"?
How would you define being "WLS-challenged"?
Thanks again!!!!
Topic: Bariatric Bypass patient Moving to Singapore
Hi everybody, I'm in Texas now, but will be moving to Singapore this summer for a couple of years. I plan to have a gastric bypass in the next few weeks, here. Can anyone advise me about finding follow-up care and diet needs in Singapore?
Topic: RE: Gastric Bypass Surgery in India
Dana,
I just got lap band surgery in Italy for $11,000.00. I haven't received their final bill so am not sure how insurance will cover but it WAS affordable considering the price elsewhere. Check my profile if you're interested and I'll be happy to add to your success for finding affordable WLS.
Bless you both and I wish you a slimming future...
Topic: RE: Gastric Bypass Surgery in India
Ok Im back and been doing a bit of research :-) I dunno about where your from? but that website that I quoted earlier on that I thought might be more affordable I had a phone consultation with them and was quoted 14-15k USD for the Roux en Y procedure sorry I don't know how to spell it yet lol. But have been searching some more exploring Indian options. Through Google I found this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070117193811AAQ9lMM which then lead me on to this http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com/cost.php which if you read the first links contents its just the site mentioned but with a average price estimation comparison chart between countries. Assuming that the Bypass is meant as in gastric bypass and not some sort of heart bypass or something else it's estimated around 6k which is good. And according to that post from the yahoo question that I found on google they arrange finance and stuff too. I haven't read into that cause finance isn't a option for me I plan to scrimp and save for it. Im still looking for other thailand/asian options as well as I know that asia has many world class surgeons and facilities and is known to be very very cheap in comparison to western prices. I wasn't that impressed with that gastricbypassthailand.com one after the consultation I had so Im leaving that one dead in its tracks and continuing the search. Feel free to drop me a line anytime have a good day :o) and I'll keep you posted on anything I find
Topic: RE: Gastric Bypass Surgery in India
Hello :-) I too cannot afford the surgery in my home country of New Zealand and am looking for options abroad in my price range. I haven't yet considered the possibility of India it hasn't even crossed my mind till reading your post. I haven't got any info for you sorry but now that I know about India being an option it will be in my research list, Im currently researching thailand. I don't have prices yet but one place I came across was www.gastricbypassthailand.com maybe this could be of some use to you also? If you do find any information on any countries that have more affordable weight loss surgeries I'd love to know what you find :-) Once I get more information I'll post it on here for you too incase your interested :-) Im just beginning the researching phase myself so have a lot of studying up to do. All the best on your search and as I said I'll keep you posted on anything I find :-D
Topic: Gastric Bypass Surgery in India
My doctor has suggested that I have gastric bypass surgery. I cannot afford the procedure in the United States. My doctor has suggested I go to India for the procedure.
Can anyone give me information on doctors and hospitals in Dehli? I also need to know about the hotels in Dehli so I can pick an appropriate lodging for after the surgery.
There are organizations here that help to arrange the whole trip but it is sometimes difficult to know who is trustworthy.
I appreciate any help anyone can give me.
