A little late making a response to this post, but I have to agree with you about Rusty Wallace. He is a really nice guy. I went to my first NASCAR race last September in Richmond and we had pit passes (hubby always gets hot passes to be in the pits). I was photographing every driver, but when Rusty walked by, he was so personable and stopped to talk. I however couldn't speak as my jaw was on the ground! I didn't ask for his authgraph and I didn't take a picture of him, I was so struck by how NICE he is. Luckily hubby was there to talk to him as I was incapable!!! I am a dale, jr fan, and I didn't even try to approach him. He was walking towards me with a sharpie in hand and I also had my sharpie, but he didn't have an approachable look about him, so I didn't bother. It may be shyness...but I'd rather not hassle with it! My husband, who is NOT a dale, jr fan, was disappointed with jr's attitude from the year before. Hubby and jr were discussing racing from years ago (Jr's grandfather and hubby's grandfather were great friends and worked together in NASCAR). Jr made some arrogant statement and my husband just walked away from him. Two other nice guys and cuties, in my opinion, are Bobby Labonte and Elliott Sadler. They are really, really nice people who take the time for the fans. Next year at the races should be even more fun....with less weight!!!

Jeff did a good job and won, but he hasn't escaped the wrath of NASCAR regarding his stunt in not going to Victory Lane. Rick Hendrick was called to the OVAL office immediately when Jeff did it, so I am sure there will fines and reprimands forthcoming. While I am not a Jeffy fan, I have respect for his abilities as a driver. He is rapidly losing that respect as he continues to behave as he has on Victory Lane.

I live in Alabama and YES, its Earnhardt Country without a doubt!! ONLY because there are no more Allisons racing. I go to Dega every year and have since 1976.... It IS an experience that one needs to be WELL PREPARED for!! But honestly, the people are great. Just remember that they are there for a party and they DO know how to party!! Have fun!!

Marilyn, I just saw your post. My hubby, sister, and her hubby go to both races every year. We live in Kansas but actually have season tickets there also. You WILL LOVE IT!!!!!!. I'll never forget my first time there. There is so much excitement there you can feel it in the air. Just be warned you are entering Earnhardt Country like you've never seen before down there. It is a whole new world!!! It's great for us we are a family of Earnhardt fans (except my Brother in law that knows nothing about Nascar and likes to say he's a Gordon fan to tick us all off!) Ang

Well really only would catch it when my husband was watching, and thought Jeff was cute, well My Aunt works for Nascar (Ward Burton) so she got us pit crew passess UNBELEIVABLE to acaully be there right with them all, so me and my husband and son 12 went had a BLAST!!! My son was a Earndhart fan till that day he has to be thee MOST IGNORNET person I have EVER met!!!!!!!! My son was the only kid down in there he wouldnt even wave, I couldnt beleive it, I look at it this way his FANS got his ass where it is today! Anyways I got my picture taken with Jeff Gordon, and what a HOTTIE!!! But have to say Rusty Wallace was thee nicest of all who went out of his way for my son, which made his day well acually my son got 26 autographs that day so he had a GREAT day but was really disappointed with JR, but I guess the old saying goes Life goes on well take care all.
