Topic: RE: PLASTIC SURGEON HELP PLEASE
Thanks Ann. I am having a hard time trying to find a surgeon that is IN NETWORK and does goes thru insurance.  My insurance company told me that the person doing my surgery has to submit the request.  There is nothing in my plan that says it is NOT covered.  I know for sure I NEED this removed.  I lost so much weight, my back hurts from this extra weight still.  I found Mayo Clinic but they are OUT of network and I would have to pay so much more.  I hope someone on here knows of a DOC that does work with insurance...

Some BC/BS doesn't give approval in writing (mine in Michigan didn't).  I found out after waiting 2 months for their approval that they don't give written approval BUT if you meet their standards, the surgery can go forward.  Check with them and also check with your doctor's office.  They should be able to tell you where you stand.

Dawn, I'm sorry that Midwestern Girl butted into your post.  She has a vendetta to destroy Joyce and will stop at nothing including using posts put forth by members here who have a real need to have their questions answered.  Joyce works for a plastic surgeon and will, of course, recommend him.  I'm sure she will also give you names of others if asked.

There are several plastic surgeons in the area who specialize in bariatric patients.  You can check here on OH up at the top where it says "plastic surgeons" and then pick one for Arizona.  You can also call the different bariatric surgeons and see if they have any recommendations.

I think we all have our favorites and will recommend (read push) you to go to them.  Only you can decide who to use based on your interview with them.  There might be fees involved in the consultation so be aware of that also.  As far as your insurance goes, check with them to see exactly what they cover.  You might have to have documented evidence of rashes, etc including pictures, doctor's reports and more stuff before they'll even consider coverage.  It is very hard to get insurance to cover what they consider a cosmetic procedure.

I get the fat free or sugar free hot chocolate mix and put a packet in with a scoop of powder.  I can add ice and water in the blender and make a cold shake or mix it thoroughly and then add ho****er for a hot protein chocolate.

You can also go to Smart & Final and get sugar free syrups to make your own flavord icy shakes.

Does anyone have any idea's where I can find some protein shake recipes? I have googled it and I get high sugar or carb ones. I am on day 3 of my pre-op liquid diet and I need more than jus****er or fat free milk mixed with them. Because that way, they are tasting nasty. Any help will be appreciated!

Hello

I have been doing a ton of research on weight loss surgery. I am hoping to have the vertical sleeve procedure in 2010. My husbands insurance does cover the surger (he has United Healthcare). One thing that I am having a hard time finding online are honest reveiws. This is why I am looking.....my friend recommended a surgeon in Tucson...his last name starts with a "C" and she thought he walked on water and was the best for the vertical sleeve and that I should go to him. Well my friend works in the ER. She befriended a new traveling nurse that worked in an ER in Tucson. Long story short, my friend who thought DR C walked on water, told me not to see him. That he had a very high rate of leaks.

If you can tell my who is highly recommended and why in the great state of Arizona, I would greatly appriciate it.

Thank you!

I do hope most realize that I have never met a greater majority of the people on this thread.  Never met them, never posted to them, never even read their posts.

Good job, Dr. K..... your attack on my person pays off!  I (as one of many) call you on trolling the boards and you get your idiots chasing me down.

You are PMing people suggesting you be their doc (Ashley is a good example) and you send your girlie girls after me.

Heh... You do realize, I win.  Right?

Block block block... people I have never heard of, posted to, or read my posts.. they are all on block.

Desperate for business, Dr. K?

Topic: Where is Dr. Steven Simon?
I was a very happy patient of Dr. Steven Simon, having dropped about 70 pounds and reaching my goal this past fall. I was hospitalized on Thanksgiving Day with a slipped lap band, and was unable to locate Dr. Simon. Eventually, his associate, Dr. Schlesinger, removed the band and port in surgery. I'm wondering if anyone knows why Dr. Simon is on a "leave of abscence". I am so disappointed to be back at square one.
