I have another fubaby that is ill now, we found out he is a diabetic in the worst way, his eyesight is pretty much gone and he seems to be wasting away. I just need some encourgament I suppose. Depression is not a good thing. then you think of comfort foods and eating.

Hi there Sondra!
It's good to see you posting again though I'm so sorry for your struggles and especially for the loss of your furbaby.  I sincerely hope you can figure out how to treat your little furbaby now and get him or her well.  They are such a comfort to us and become like our kiddos!  I've been known to cancel an entire day just to sit and rock a sick puppy.

I understand finances and being away from gyms and such.  Two ideas you may consider.....your libarary will probably have DVD's of exercise types?  Or, you can log onto Chris Powell's (local AZ guru) website www.reshapethenation.com and get ideas on exercising at home with stuff that everyone has in the house.  He has helped zillions get healthy through eating plans and exercise.

Another thought is that you get online with the Back on Track groups.  Cathy of OH runs the BOTT support site.  (Back on Track Together).  Just go to:  OH Groups and then put BOTT in the search window.  They have great ideas.

The grad group is another forum where folks chat who are further out from surgery and are in the same place that you and I are in:  learning to maintain our loss and making it part of our ongoing plan for life!

Kudos to you for moving forward with school.  I'm sorry about the job situation....kind of a stinky economy right now and many of us are trying to keep our heads above water.  Depression is defintiely NOT a good thing and if you have medical benefits, I'd suggest trying to get some meds and/or counseling.  I wish you could join us today at the support group.  It's facilitated by a psych.   I'll pass on any tips that she may share tonight that could benefit, K?

Good for you for reaching out on here.  Maybe peeps who are in your area will read your post and could make contact?  Is there any WLS support system in your area?  If you ever come to the valley for any reason then give us a heads up and we'll roll out the red carpet and call a spontaneous support luncheon or something.  I have friends in Prescott and Tucson who come to our area occasionally.  We usually get a few of us together for a spontaneous get together and it always turns into a mini support moment.  We all need lifting!

If you want to get serious about losing then let me know......I have been trying to find time to launch a Back on Track support group for the zillions who are in the same boat as us (out a few years and struggling).  I have a ton of research accumulated so will pull it together someday soon.

Best wishes to the furbaby and especially to you!  Let us know how we can support you, K?!

Merry Christmas friend!

My dream is to be beat up at the gym by Jillian and Bob!  LOL!

Who is your favorite trainer?  Who do you hope wins?

GREAT night of TV!!!  The Before and Afters reminded me of one of our WLS events!!!  Wow! .....  Of course they were ALL winners and have the potential for new and healthier starts in life!  ....  Did you all think the winners looked like they were 10 years younger??!!!

A fb Biggest Loser from season 9 (one of the Tongan cousins from AZ) said in his status:  "now for maintenance!  that's the hard part!" ..... I totally agree!  I crawl on the scale every morning thinking it's going to say I weigh 168 lbs heavier cuz I had a "non diet" food choice the day before!  ....  Finding the balance for a lifetime is the challenge!

Support group today at 4:30!!!  (my favorite mental session!)

conferencne room just past the cafeteria
Banner Gateway .....just south of the 60 on Higley (take the Higley exit)

I hope to see you then!

In the immortal words of Saturday Night Live's "Church Lady" played by Dana Carvey -- "Wellll, isn't thaaat s-p-e-c-i-a-l !!"

OMG,  I can't believe that a complaint letter against a surgeon has turned into a "YOU ROCK" fest for Joyce.

First of all, MWG isn't saying that Schlesinger is the ONLY doc in AZ who has lawsuits against him.   What she IS saying is that he's the only one who is promoted AD NAUSEUM night & day by  "office advocates"  who has lawsuits - not only in AZ, but in other parts of the country.  AND, SHE POSTED LINKS TO THE ACTUAL PUBLIC RECORDS, so stop calling it "accusations" - is it NOT "accusations" - there are FACTS posted.  Or maybe the public records are lying too?  I guess it's all just being made up out of thin air because the public records people don't like Joyce?   Maybe they "have it in" for poor misunderstood Joyce" at the public records office??

And, if you were less busy backslapping each other and promoting one doctor as the "second coming", you would realize this.   OMG!  We get it, you're one happy happy little clique!  So, go off and celebrate the joy of being yourselves and let those who deal in reality and actual facts do our thing!  Your so-called research consists of asking Joyce what to do, now doesn't it?  Hmmm, Lizzie took Joyce's "advice" and look what happened to her!

All THREE of you DS patients are just such happy happy little Guinea Pigs, aren't you?   You're probably all "office advocates" (for Schlesinger's burgeoning DS practice, LOL) coming to defend your buddy Joyce.  Read that again -- THREE OF YOU - only THREE!!  Gee, didn't I say I read  he had done 2 or 3?  Not 200, like it says on his OH page!  Three. Interesting, isn't it?   The whole group of you CONTINUE to make my point for me!

Interesting why such a successful, talented and well-known surgeon would have to resort to having former patients pump various web boards to find patients for him.    Interesting.   That's all I'm sayin'.

I don't see the office advocates (if there are any) for the other WLS practices in AZ doing this.
Where are the people hyping Blackstone, or Juarez, Fang, Mayo, or the docs in Flagstaff??  I've heard that Blackstone had to let go of half her staff, due to lack of business.   If that is what is happening to one of the most popular WLS practices in AZ, it is no surprise that a newbie like Schlesinger, who has had three jobs in three years , would have to resort to this.

HELLO EVERYONE!!
I WILL BE MOVING TO AZ IN APRIL AND AM TRYING TO GET SUGGESTIONS FOR SURGEONS TO CONTINUE MY FOLLOW UP CARE - (HAD SURGERY IN JUNE 09)

I WILL BE IN THE WEST VALLEY/AVONDALE AREA -

THANK YOU!!

I cannot suggest Orris or DeBarros for you for many reasons but one is that they will charge you a $2500 program fee if they did not do your sugery before they will do your aftercare and they are quite expensive for basic fills.

I do not know what Simpson charges, do ask about program fees and if they are required.

Jen & Gene are 2 of my heroes too!  ....  You've made some great points!  The good news is that the web provides oodles of information and opinions...the bad news is that the web provides oodles of information and opinions AND......we don't always know how realiable any of it is!

Best wishes on your WL journey!
