Braids during surgery?

Just wondering if I can wear braids (with extensions) for surgery? I haven't heard anyone ask this before. I'm pre-op and still waiting on a surgery date so I thought I'd ask BAF cause yall would know.  A sista truly does not want to be looking all buckwheatish come the actual day if ya know what I mean.

I had my hair braided the night before I had surgery and all was well.  Good luck.  Extensions are not the problem...but if you had an updo with metal pins in your hair and were going to have to get an xray..that would be a problem.

Without getting too technical...all metal is prohibited on the patient for electrical purposes during surgery.  (if you want to know more, send me a PM) Weaves, bonding, twists and braids with extensions are all okay, no wigs........they have metal clips. Brit

My hair is locked, so I really can't answer that question. They pretty much looked the same before during and after. I just kinda finger comb them and forget about it...most of the time

I had braids when I had surgery.  It was cool because I didn't have to worry about looking like a hot mess.  LOL

I did. Even after I keep getting it braided just because during my recover it was easy to take care of.

Thanks everybody for all of the responses. I truly didn't know if the surgeon was going to say that it was unsterile or not.  Now I feel a lot better knowing that I can keep my braids during the surgery.
