Speaking of .. don't know if anyone watch Oprah's new season show about her weight gain.... But, one day the winner of one of the seasons from the Biggest Loser was on there, he had gain about 60lbs back.   He was embarrassed like Oprah.

So, I have to agree with someone who said ... Under those cir****tances ... anything is probably possible ...

I agree with Mack, you CAN lose that kind of weight in those conditions, they EXERCISE about 5-6 hours a day and do it vigorously; so it is not realistic for NORMAL folks, but the more you exercise and the less you eat the quicker the weight loss.

The problem with MANY weight loss surgery patients is that they NEVER EXERCISE...they depend solely on not eating much and this is A BIG mistake, you have to normalize the metabolism with eating the right foods and exercise for long lasting weight loss, to get slim and STAY there you have permanently change the lifestyle whi*****ludes eating healthy and exercising often.

I hadn't came in to this post before I posted about my seminar yesterday. But what the winner I heard say yesterday is
1) They work out between 8-10 hours a day EVERY day while they are on the show/ There is no newspaper, no tv, no nothing except for the gym, the kitchens and the common room.  Which is why most of them gain some of the weight backb ecause you can't sustain that type of workout for a long period of time
2)There is NO additions no water pills nothing like that. They are on a caloric restrictive diet. The way he explained it is you take your weight times it by 7 and your daily caloric intake you need to sustain. It takes 3500 calories to make a ound so his goal was to burn over 6,000 calories every day in order to lose a pound a day. (He was there 4 months and lost 134 lbs)

 3) He said he grank about a gallon and a half of water EVERY day to curb his appetitie and he was focused on what he needed to do to lose the weight in order to do what he wanted to do live to walk his 13 yr old down the aisle.

I think that the show is a tool just like WLS and if you don't go through it it seems unreal. My only problem with the shoe is the fact that the psychological aspect isn't dealt with enough which is why you see so many contestants afterwards gain teh weight backb ecause they didn't deal with the true issue that got them there.

I love BL! This is by far the only reason I function after two hours at the gym after work LOL. It has been my ongoing goal to weigh less than the "former models" but this week, they surpassed me on the scale. You are right, pulling 7-12lb losses per week is completely unrealistic. Did you watch last season? I read online that Vicky the Devil was sleeping on the treadmill and most contestants spent 8-9 hours in the gym everyday. Sick!

I don't think that Joelle has a medical problem preventing her from losing weight... she has a MENTAL health disorder getting in the way of her being psychologically ready for loss. Speaking as a mental health professional and not flippantly at all, her glazed look and laissez-faire attitude remind me so much of my Bipolar folks I see in the office everyday... off meds. It's sad to see her go through this on Nat'l TV. What's even worse is that BL has made two of US SISTAHS  arguing as the focus of the show thus far... the last thing needed. Now that they are gone, what drama are they going to have to focus on? Believe it, I'll be watching to see.
