Do you have allergies?  It can cause you to cough quite a bit due to post nasal drip.  I just developed allergies since i moved to Georgia and it has been keeping me up at night.  Thankfully I have some good cough medicine I can take that numbs the back of my throat and allows me to sleep.

Nope, years ago when I had this issue I went to an allergist (where they put all kinds of needles in my back and it was normal) ear nose and throat (no cancer horrible experience, camera down my nose to see the throat) and upper GI, at one time the doctor thought i had pneumonia so I have really just been going through and I really don't want to go through all of the unecessary test and they all show negative results, I just want it to go away LOL!!!

I am taking Singular for nasal drip and it is not working. What medication are you taking to num the back of your throat? I need some of that ASAP. I am missing days of work and it is not cool, when I don't work I don't get paid, but at the same time I work with the public and I refuse to go to work and cough like a DAMN!!! FOOL!!! That is so embarassing because everybody looks at you like UGH!!! That is nasty or you have the cooties!!! I need some relief and I need it now. What medicine do you take that numbs the back of your throat? So I can ask my doctor for some. Please help!!!!

Sorry that I am just now getting back with you.  The name of the medication is Tussinex (its a prescription cough syrup).  I can only take it at night because it makes me sleepy.  Its allows me to sleep at night when I have postnasal drip.  Hope this helps!

Do you have allergies? I had a cough that lasted almost one month and I was taking several OTC cough medicines and using SF cough drops. However, prior to surgery I was taking allegra-d for my allergies and I went to the dr's last week and he told me just as someone mentioned in the post that is was post  nasal drip. After taking the allegra for 2 to 3 days no more cough.

Hope you feel better soon.
