Thanks..im glad you understand...and it is an amazing and very difficult decision to have to make. jehovahs witnesses want to live just like everyone else...and to be quite honest and not being funny..if it wast for Jehovah's witnesses refusing blood all these yrs doctors would not have made the advacements they have on doing bloodless surger's and having blood less hospitals.. and studies prove that being treated bloodless, your recovery timeis much faster and the doctors are more careful when operating.

I was raised in the truth, yet never got baptized. I gave my Mom power of attorney to refuse a blood transfusion if necessary. The teachings are not followed with the belief that the person will go to heaven. The belief is that there will be a paradise on earth and the 144,000 are tied to the 12 tribes of Israel. There are very few of the anointed ones still alive.

As far as sin goes, Jehovah knows our heart and that is what we will be judged on. Her husband's sins have nothing to do with her faith. In fact, her faith may very well be what brought her through that trying period in her life. She is relying on her faith right now. I will pray for your friend. Please go see her.

I always found "the truth" to be a bit pretentious,  the assumption that mine is the truth means yours is a lie.

Used in a sentence:  Are you in the truth?

to me saying something like "i came into the truth at 19 yrs old" is saying that the religion i a practicing is the truth to me...everybody  should feel that the church they belong to is the truth. otherwise why go if u dont think it is?

There are over 7 million Witnesses not to mention those who have already died.  In a simple question of numbers, why would you kill yourself over a policy that was adopted in 1940s when the chances of you making it into heaven are slim to none. In the big picture of things the number of innocent Witness children that have died and have no sin, complete that magic number alone.

No magic to the number...its right in the bible...revelation 14:1-3.... The number is right there. Yes we believe a set number of witnesses are going to heaven.there is no need for everyone to go there. the people that are going to heaven for a reason. they are to rule as kings and priest with jesus.(rev 20:6) if everyone went to heaven who would they be ruling over?? i can happily say that i am NOT one of the 144,00 going to heaven. I repeat I AM NOT GOING TO HEAVEN!!! jehovah has promised to make earth a peaceful paradise just as it was meant to be in the days of adam and eve. (pasalm 37:10,11; revelation 21:4) My hope is to live forver on earth and i pray that i can continue to remain faithful until death so that i can enjoy the blessings of the paradise.

Just IMO I really think you should study once more with the witnesses to get a more accurate understanding. if you dont believe the things they show you from the bible, you can stop the study at anytime. and just because you study doesnt mean that you will be considered a jehovahs witness...

i also wanted to ask...is your friend baptized???

Hi Tonya,

I've never posted here, but it was a slow night on the Boards, and I was checking out some other forums and I saw your post!

The command to "abstain from blood" was given to the Israelites, and then again in the new testament. So it is not new. Blood is sacred to God, and this was/is a command.

The decision to not accept a blood transfusion is difficult, but if you are a JW and a person with faith, there is no other choice, even if it means your life. JW's believe that you have a future reward, and your obedience depends on you receiving it.

There are many blood alternatives, and very complicated surgeries have been performed without it. Blood expanders, filtration outside the body, etc. But an actual transfusion would be unacceptable. A true JW would rather die than disobey God.

JW"s do not want to die. LIfe is precious. They seek medical help. They will do anything, seek the best doctors, try experimental treatment, but they will not take blood. End of story.
