Good day to all. I hope everyone is doing well today. I needed to get this off my mind before the weekend is over and Monday morning is here. I was at work Thursday sitting at my desk and over the little wall all I hear is my coworker complaining about how much work she has to do and how unfair it is that her workload is so much more that everyone else's is and how tired she is of all the bull she has to put up with and yadda, yadda. She does the same job I do and I am so happy that I still have a job to get up and go to every morning. My company has just laid off 1000 workers and we have been told that additional lay-offs are coming. Please beleve that this work is far from difficult or stressful. We are analyst and "WE" sit on our butts all day. No sweat! I feel bad about all the people who have lost their jobs but I thank God everyday I can still pay my bills among other things. I know I should not allow another persons negativity effect me in this way but I see the reason she may feel overwhelmed. One reason may be she spends so much time shopping online at work or talking on her cell or looking at her myspace page and so on. I took Friday off because I need to give myself some time to meditate and consider if I should say something to her about invading my airspace with her bad vibes. I'll be in a better state of mind when I go back but honestly I have been listening to this mess for weeks now and it has really rubbed me the wrong way. I will not speak to everyone about it at work because I then become just like her. So please be honest and tell me "What would YOU do?"

Rosetta,
You control who invades your space.  We're always going to run into ppl who provide us with negative vibes.  The question is: do we allow them to affect our moods or not?  I know its easy to get peeved listening to a complainer day-in, day-out.  But your job is simply to ignore that person.  There may be something going on in that person's life other than the job that is overwhelming them.    We don't know that.

I guess the thing is to just live our own individual lives and just keep all negative vibes away from us.

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer."   Plutach.  Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.

Chile - don't get entangled or concerned bout other folks bidness - BEST believe she ain't the LEAST concerned about yours!!!!

I had the same concerns - I had pick folk to lay off at my gig - that's the part of management I HATE - and for a while, I was sweating myself - cause I was busy looking at my peers.

THEN I had to realize that my boss is concerned about what he expects ME to do - which ain't got blip to do with the other mofos!  Once I settled into my own race - I'm GOOD!  And my boss is cooler than a fan with me!  We got an understanding.  While I feel for those who are going through it job wise - I gotta do what *I* gotta do so that I can stay EMPATHETIC and not SYMPATHETIC - ya dig??

Enjoy your day and get your head together and your spirit chilled out - then get back on your grind - you will be aiight!!!!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
