Today's tip is about otc= over the counter medicines. Make sure you read the labels on all of these because of the ingredients. I always buy sf cough syrup, cough drops, thera-flu and any meds. like that or just look for diabetic meds. Also look at the alcohol content because it may say daytime non-drowsy meds. but if it has alcohol in it, you may be drowsy . Remember that we should not take NSAIDS so we should take meds that are acetaminophen based and these do not mix well with alcohol because it could harm your liver. If in doubt, always call your surgeon or talk with your pharmacist. Take care of your new pouch, sleeve, band or switched area by being informed.

Your dr. and NUT will give you a lot of info. and the rest is trial and error and of course you have support groups and you have us.   It's a journey and that means that you don't learn it all in one day but a little at a time. The most important thing to remember is no sugar and no ibuprofen and you'll be fine.

I love your newbie tips of the day.  Why did I have my first dumping episode off of liquid Tylenol ... I tell ya I was sicker than a dog!  Didn't know what was happening because I didn't think I could actually dump off of it.  But sure enough it was the sugar alcohols in the stuff.  I won't even touch the stuff now.
