New Post-op Tip of The Day
I'm going to take a part of what Free said last week on her surgiversary about what she's learned from wls and that is,that wls is not a cure all.
Wls can improve your health
Allow you to fit in restaurant booths, theater seats, fit into chairs with arms, fly comfortably without a seat belt extender, cross your legs, walk for longer periods of time without getting out of breath, take the stairs etc. I could fill a page up and #1 Mack Mama had a good post about this yesterday.
My point is that losing weight opens up a whole new world to us and gives us a new lease on life but it won't give you perfection. If you had a bad marriage or relationship before surgery, it will not be changed by losing weight. If you have a chronic illness before surgery, you may not get well after surgery, a couple of exceptions that I know of is diabetes and some high blood pressure. If you had stretch marks before surgery, they will still be there along with some loose skin after your surgery.
I'm only saying this because some people go into this surgery thinking that once you lose the weight then your life will be perfect. Talk to thin people and ask them if they have problems and they will tell you yes they do. Wls is one of the best decisions I made for my life but my trials and tribulations in life are still there. Enjoy your journey with realistic expectations.
(please excuse any spelling errors and grammar mistakes, I'm in the midst of some of those trials and tribulations right now and my mind is not as clear as it should be)

thanks NeeNaj again for keeping it REAL. As you may know I'm pre-op and I occasionally like to go back and forth and study the pros and cons of WLS...doesn't scare me a bit...but I just like to stay aware...I see more positives than negatives but it's wise to be educated on the ups and downs...I was just sayin this morning in my "pre-op stage" everyday win't peaches n' cream... :)
