Do you think all RNYers should take vitamin B and calcium supplements
YES! YES! YES! YES! View my earlier post. I was a hard headed RNYer. I did not follow my regimen...and you know what my blood work was in the normal range for years...still is; however, my hair is very thin in spots (must wear a wig or almost bald fade to look right) and I was having back problems and I am convinced its because of my calcium levels. I think our stuff need to be in the above normal range. Please follow your Dr. advice. You have been given a gift...not time to be playing Russian Roulette. Take care.
YES !!!!! Take vitamins for life. My labs have been normal except for my 3 and 6 month labs my vitamin D was extremely low. Well I had a Bone Density test done last week and I have osteopenia and have lost bone in my spine and hips. I take 1500 mgs of calcium citrate daily and b-12 and b-complex , multi vitamin, and was on 10,000 IU vitamin D a day until my surgeon said I was in normal range on my vitamin D. I'm suffering neurological issues right now and will be getting a Reclast infusion as soon as my insurance approves, to protect my bones. Yes I had seizures before surgery but I haven't had any in 2 1/2 years and I've had several since Jan. Do not play with the vitamins. Also make sure that you only take your calcium 500 mgs at a time because that's all we can absorb, and wait 2 hrs between iron supplements and calcium citrate for the right absorption.
