I received this e-mail from my aunt Clara, it stated
Please keep the following in mind 90# on your phone. I dialed "0" to
check this out, asked the operator who confirmed that this was correct
so please pass this on, I also checked out snopes .com and this also
applies to your cell phone as well.
The email reads: I received a phone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as a AT&T SERVICE TECHNICIAN
( COULD ALSO BE TELUS) who was conducting a test on the phone
lines, he stated that to complete the test I should touch 90# then hang
up.I was suspicious and refused and hung up on him.
Upon contacting the phone company, I was informed that by pushing
90# you give the requesting  person full access to your phone line,
which allows them to place long distance calls billed to you.
I was futher informed that this SCAM has been originating from many
local jails & prisons DO NOT PRESS 90# FOR ANYONE.
Also after checking with VERIZON they also confirmed this as well.

why would a phone company create such a feature? pressing 90# gives access to my phone?  thats wild.

either this email forward aint true (like the KKK owning them Mystic drinks and Troop sneakers back in the day) or phone company techies are idiots.

I have actually gotten the call from the prisons with this scam. It is not 90# here it is *70 or something + a phone number. When you dial that it forwards all your calls to that # and they can accept collect calls and they get billed to you. Most phone companies are aware of it but there is nothing they can do about it. I used to work for the phone company so I know better than to dial *anything.

For anyone who has not received such a call - it goes like this. They call and say it is detective so&so, a family member has been in a serious accident call *70 + phone # blah blah blah for more info. It is meant to get you in a panic so that you don't think about the fact that you are being asked to dial the *whatever first.

Ain't thieves craftyier than a mugg? Take some of that cleverness and put that ish to good use, damn!!!! My mom was scammed like that a few years ago. Dude said he was her nephew (kept saying Auntie, Auntie)  and of course we got all kinds of fam on lock down, she was gullible and pressed the damn numbers cause he told her to call his girlfriend and tell her where he was blah, blah, blah.

Damn scoundrels, can't stand em. I don't push jack and I don't answer prison calls neither. If yo' azz in jail then too damn bad, I can't help you boo! I'll send you a card saying keep ya head up but don't call me cuz, not from there anyways!!! LOL!!!
