I can eat about 1 cup of ice cream and that's it. Now I know my limits with ice cream a lil too much and I will be sick.

I have a slightly different approach.  I convince myself that I’m special and that I deserve to have the tastiest food in the fridge.  Example – I make special trips to a little Middle Eastern store just to buy a grilled eggplant salad that they sell.  Nobody else in the house eats it ~ it’s just for me.

I tell myself that carbs like rice and pasta are bland and gummy, not worth the trouble of eating and taking up space in my pouch.  I’ll eat the toppings off some Papa John’s with a quickness and feed the crust to the birds and squirrels.  I get to eat the best part.

(((((((((((((((Sue)))))))))))))))) finally someone that gets what I am talking about!

This journey can trip you up mentally....so I have to come up with my own tricks..lol

I am digging the special meal move! I say the same thing about rice and pasta...if it takes up to much space with not that flavor I don't want it

I wish you had clued this sistah on to those little tricks!   Now the only thing that works for me is the fact that I'm scared shiotless of not being able to fit my clothes this summer.

I started trying them on months ago.  As soon as I felt them getting tight, I straightened up.  I refuse to have to buy new clothes...hell, I don't even want to have to lay on the bed to zip them up.

You can still use the tricks...especially now...tell yourself that if you eat XYZ you will gain 3 pounds from it...you can eventually convince yourself trust me it works!

My band does all my talking.  There are plenty of foods I want to eat that ole' girl shuts down.  That's why I love her so much.  She can be flaky, but most of the time she does her j.o.b.

You sure none of it is mental?

There is no doubt that a significant part of WLS is mental. It's unavoidable.  However, my goal about food and eating was normalcy.  Pasta and cake are normal, but my relationships with them were not.  Once I moved to maintenance, my approach has been moderation.  If I want rice or desert, I have them.  That's what the band does for me.  The difference between then and now is that I'm not going to eat the whole dayum cake.

For me it's artifical sweetner. The thought just makes me gag...I'd rather do unsweetened than use splenda or any of the others.  I hate protein...always drank it because  I know it's necessary but I don't want any of them.  Unjury unflavored, I now dig because they told the truth when they said you really can't taste it.
