The Lord's going to let me live

So Blessed!

That's what my Mama said.  She said God is good.

I've been away from the board for a while bacause I had to go back home to be with Mama.  She had complications from a broken ankle and peripheral vascular disease.  After being in a cast for almost a month, she'd developed a wound on her ankle.  We thought everything was going to be OK after a surgeon placed a stent to improve blood flow, but later when they went in to debride the wound, they discovered that the bone was dry.  They had to amputate her right leg just below the knee.

Mama had her surgery on a Thursday and I was there by the next day and stayed with her while she was in the hospital.  I'll tell you, one of the hardest things that I've ever experienced in my life was trying to comfort my mama while she cried because they had to cut her leg off.  The last day that she asked for anything for pain was Sunday, just 4 days post op.  She didn't even ask for a Tylenol.  Nothing.  Mama said God is good and that He was going to let her live.  I can only hope that when I am tested that my faith will be as strong as hers and I will be able to continue to praise God in the midst of it all.

I stayed long enough to get Mama settled into a rehab facility for physical, occupational and speech therapy.  She's 86 and was very weak when she went in, but she is determined to walk again.  They've assessed her for a prosthesis and say she is a good candidate.  She is working very hard.  I have a couple of siblings there so she will not be alone.

Please keep her in your prayers.

Mama sounds like a true soldier.  Peace and blessings to her as she continues to recover.
