QUESTION FOR THE VETS AND NEWBIES
My diet is made up mostly of:
Chicken thighs - baked, grilled, sometimes fried. Can never eat a whole thigh.
Green veggies - just about any kind.
Soups (leaving the broth) - mostly lentil
FF refried beans with cheese & salsa
Wheat pitas stuffed with deli meat & cheese (can only eat a half pita at a time, on a good day!)
Eggs - but I rarely do them anymore. Lived on them right after surgery. Can only eat 1.
Salads - with lean meats, cheeses and FF salad dressing
Tuna salad - LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Definitely a staple.
Fruits - fresh only, never canned (way too sweet for me)
SF Pudding - Jell-O brand dark chocolate! Yeah baby!
FF Cottage cheese with pineapples - excellent source of protein
Pizza - I only eat the toppings (never the crust) and only one slice
Wings - not the breaded kind (); can only eat about 3 at any one time
Toast - if I'm feenin' for some bread. Regular bread is too expansive.
Snack crackers - just about any kind, but I try to limit them. Special K makes a good one.
Fish - baked or broiled; usually catfish or flounder, sometimes sea bass but rarely.
Foods that are not my Friend:
White meat chicken - NEVER. EVER.
Burger patties - regardless of meat type - turkey, beef, chicken... NADA!
Any kind of meat that is reheated in a microwave. Gravy or no gravy.
Yogurt
Rice - love it, but won't eat it. Too filling. Not enough protein. (Does rice even have any?)
Pasta - never cared for it, even pre-op
Potatoes - love them, therefore I must avoid them!
Steak cooked more than medium well.
Salmon - too heavy in my gut
eggs
turkey sausage/bacon
cheese
toast whole wheat
crackers
grilled chicken
tuna
fruits
cooked veggies (all kinds)
mashed potatoes
baked sweet potatos
tomato based soups
deli meat
grilled cheese sandwiches
hamburger (good grade of beef or turkey/chicken)
I used to make my own pizzas (whole wheat tortilla;pizza sauce;veggies;meat;and cheese) could eat half for two meals
I STILL haven't eaten alfredo at 12 months out
I have only had mac&cheese 3 times
as someone else mentioned its important at this stage to a) get all your protein in b)get all your water in c)get your vitamins and d)get physically active
If that means you drink 2 shakes a day and one "meal" then so be it you shouldn't be so concerened with the variety of foods at this early stage that will come later. The focus right now should be on establishing your routine with a-d
Wow some of yawl are some grubbin' folks! 2 months I didn't even THINK about eating that stuff
I have to ask why are you trying these things in the first place? Why are you trying to sabotage your WLS already?
I lived on Wendy's chili, Protein shakes, pinapple and cottage cheese
eta: I am almost 3 years out and I can't even mess with chicken alfredo, don't know how you are pulling off pasta and rice
Amen...but do u notice Ro...the greater number of folks who talk revision, regain...etc seems to occur quicker in the newer group coming through? They are pushing it too fast!
I still can't do pasta....I make it for family and might be able to eat a bite or two before it's a wash. I generally stick to eating a little sauce and keeping it moving.
